Anyone know the deal on this guy? He seems real, but I can't find any evidence of him being a warrior poet and philosopher who wrote about the nature of the self and how to discover it via torture. Is this all fictional? From what I've been able to determine is that he was just a chinese general guilty of genocide with no extensive writing career on the side.

yeah i think maybe the background was fictional, save for the psychotic dictator part.

I've always supposed that the Xiang Yu mentioned in War Stories was a figure of the future history of the 'Verse showing up sometime in the 500 years between us and the events of Firefly. Perhaps a leader of the Sino-American alliance that launched the exodus from Earth That Was.
