I never watched either Buffy or Angel when they originally aired, but considering Firefly is my favorite show ever, and there was so much talk about Joss' earlier shows here and other related sites, I figured I should give them a shot.

I rented Buffy from Netflix. By the time I had gotten to Season Three I started buying the dvds, and now own all of Buffy and Angel, and have watched both series at least four times so far. I may skip certain episodes at times, but not that many.

Everyone is going to have their favorite episodes and seasons. For me, "The Body" (Season 5) is not only the best episode of Buffy, it's one of the best television episodes ever. Period. I'm talking "Out of Gas" or "Objects in Space" quality.

This is the way I would rate Buffy's seasons, in descending order:

3, 2, 5, 6, 7, 4, 1

You've got a lot of great tv to look forward to.

I'm at that point now. I'm not finding it cringe-worthy. Cheesy, but no cheesier than Buffy, and in some ways pretty interesting. Sorry to be so against popular opinion.

Ah, Rose, you're right, of course. I tend to overreact about Pylea a bit. And seriously, I only really found it cheesy on rewatching the series. And even then, I can get through it, thanks to Lorne and his antics. And Cordy's outfits, of course. :)

BTVS starts out as a silly, rediculous parody of vampyre fliks. SMG is a hot smokin teenager who hasn't yet hit the anorexic wall of success. Joss at his sharpest wit.

Each episode and season gets darker and darker, leading the sheeple deeper down the psyop of Revolution against government corruption and the Satanic forces that really do rule the world. Just kidding...

whatever you do don't google Bohemian Grove!

Angel extrapolates BTVS to its reality-based conclusion - waging war against the ultimate evil of global shadow government. Very subversive to the evil that seeks to rule US - for REAL. Just kidding...

personally, i'm surprised so many people liked angel better. for me, it was too obviously a spinoff- and it didn't have the amazing ensemble that buffy did- as the seasons progressed, it did develop more characters, but it just lacked the crackle and pop of buffy. also the snap. (just to go with the rice krispies theme)

for me, buffy had me captured from the beginning, but then i was about 11 when i started watching it on dvd, so i didn't really care about the special effects or assorted cheesiness- although i sure did notice when it got better!

stick with it- you'll be glad you did!

you pay money for this, sir? on purpose?

I agree w/you, I never really loved Angel the way I did Buffy & Firefly...
although I'm enjoying it more now that I'm rewatching everything in order with a friend who has never seen any of it.

And I REALLY can't wait for Dollhouse!
