Summer needs to get off this show and get a new agent. She's going to be the best known robot since Robbie if she stays too long. She should be doing leading roles in romantic comedies and dramas. She's got the looks, talent, and personality to be a household name. But instead we are bombarded with movies and news of Jolie, Hathaway, Holmes, Knightly, Portman, etc. etc....yuuch & yuuuch!

You're opinion's perfectly valid, Jongsstraw, but why does she necessarily have to do romantic comedies and dramas? I've always felt thinking such as that is the reason that genre films and television have such a stigma in Hollywood. It's as if everyone believes romantic comedies and dramas are the only kinds of entertainment that are credible (which couldn't be further from the truth). I'm all for Summer becoming a household name, but I also hope that as an actress, she can be diverse in her role choices.

You're right, but I just don't want to see her get type-cast in Hollywood. That can be the death of a career. And I also think she's far more "marketable" than she's been allowed to be, and far more gifted than some think. Amy Adams has a career that Summer could have.

I definitely agree, Summer is way more marketable; the girl has incredible range. But I think typecasting can work in both ways. She could easily go from sci-fi/action girl to romcom/drama girl, which I would definitely hate to see. And what's worse, the general public would be completely accepting, and fail to see the value of the genre work that she's done.
Sorry about the rant, but the whole genre thing is a hot-button issue for me. I can't stand it how people always assume this stuff is only for geeks and kids. The most heart-breaking and though-provoking film and television I've seen has almost universally been genre-based, so I fail to understand how this work is somehow not valid.

Just because an actor has a skill doesn't mean that it should be written into every character they ever do. Then it just becomes part of the typecasting they face in their careers. It becomes like the joke in ENTOURAGE when every time Vincent does a movie, that there's always a cameo of Drama in there. It's just out of place and unintentionally funny in that world (but funny as Hell for the audience).
For once, I'd like to see Summer do a role where she's a klutz of average intelligence that speaks in complete sentences. Just as much as I'd like to see Jewel be an internal, repressed character or Sean be an uninhibited free spirit or a complete bastard. Range, that's all I want from my BDM's.
And what's wrong with Natalie Portman? Best actress of her generation, IMHO. Have you ever seen GARDEN STATE? Even her eyebrows are enough to break your heart.

Summer is great in this. I think she steals the show. But she may get type cast in these strange characters she continues to play. I hope she can breakout into some different roles. But if this what she is offered, how can you tell her to turn down the money. Sitting around waiting for the perfect script does not pay the bills.
You never know where this show will go. Time travel and new robots appearing all around can alter the direction over and over again. You can kill someone off and then time travel and find them again.
