And as to the quality of the show...I hesitate to respond as I don't think my opinion would be very popular here but the truth is that I despise this show. I tried, I really tried. I tuned in several times throughout the season and I wanted to like it. No matter how much I wanted to like it though, I just couldn't. Poor casting, plot holes, bland acting...the only thing I like about it is Summer and I agree with the comment about her being under utilized.
I will mention that I get rather critical with things that I consider to be mediocre. It's not an absolutly terrible show, it's just mediocre and I take issue with our cultural promotion of mediocrity...

As for me describing her as "under-utilized" - I was being nice saying it that way. To watch Summer move is to sit in wonder at her grace, beauty, athleticism, and lethality. In the Sarah Connorcles, she's beautiful and lethal, but there's not a whiff of her grace - it's all about pushing people through walls! Joss would NEVER let someone of her fluidity of motion be a mere wall-pusher!
And yet, I still watch. Summer is fantastic, if misused. And I even like Brian Austin Green's character. The others, not so much...

I'm watching it, but when it comes back on Mondays next month, I'll be watching HEROES, CHUCK, THE BIG BANG THEORY and MY OWN WORST ENEMY before this. Aside from the mindbender of a scene when the Brian Austin Green character takes John to the park to see his father as a little boy playing catch with his older brother whose the younger version of the Green character, the series hasn't really wowed me. Mind you, I was never a big fan of Terminator to begin with.
And the sub-plot of Cameron trying to learn how to do ballet reeks of actor pandering. It's as if the writers said "Hey, Summer used to be a ballerina. Even though she's a robot, let's try to fit that in somehow." With River, it seemed original and an interesting character trait that informed you of who she was. With Cameron, it just seems unnecessary.
It would be like the writers on MY NAME IS EARL having an episode with Earl skateboarding just because Jason Lee used to be a skateboarder before turning to acting. Jason would be waaaayyy to old to pull it off, he'd probably treat it like a rash that he's never gotten rid of, plus you can't buy Earl as a skateboarder. In this case, Summer read the probably read the script and went "Ugh. I cannot get this fucking ballerina thing away from me."
If it were to get canceled, I'd be OK with it, since it would give me one less thing to watch on Monday.

Possibly - but they redeemed themselves via Cameron's later treatment of the ballet teacher (just in case you thought she was going soft)... Cameron probably thinks ballet is some martial art which had been inexplicably omitted from her programming.
Plus, there is that (as yet unexplained) scene in the future where the resistance guys are being held in a derelict house, and there's a room with music playing... Could someone have been practicing ballet?
Agree that the series could have made a lot more of Summer's talent for Serenity-style balletic whoopass. However, I suspect that (A) they were short of funding (the swimming-pool scene in the finale was effective, but did suggest "whups - no cash for a big dust-up") and (B) we've been spoiled rotten by the quality of fight choreography in Buffy/Angel/Firefly/Serenity.

Oh yeah, that reminded me. That finale probably was the best ep so far. Had the scene I mentioned earlier along with the shoot-out swimming pool scene cut to Johnny Cash over the soundtrack. You put the Man in Black over any action sequence, no matter how lackluster it may be, it automatically makes it cool.

Sooooo, if an actor is called upon to use a skill they actually possess, rather than try to fake it by going to "boot camp" for a couple of weeks, that's "actor pandering"?
I'm not complaining.

It's from the first movie for sure. I remember it from both actually. That's the whole explanation of why Kyle didn't come back with better futuristic weapons to deal with the terminator. He said mechanical objects couldn't travel through time. Then of course the terminator came up and the caveat of being wrapped in living tissue was an escape clause. Pretty dumb when you think about it, but it gave them an excuse for the movie they wanted.
