Earthquake in Southern California just a few minutes ago. I was listening to Jim Rome (Sports talk radio), and in mid-interview, he says - "Whoa -that was a good jolt. The building's swinging right now."

Amazing how calm he was in the middle of a quake.

They're saying 5.8, centered under Chino Hills.

Keep yer heads down out there!

Well, it wasn't TOO bad. And I'm almost on top of it. I didn't even lose the document I was working on!

A 5.8, you'd certainly notice it. Might jingle the glasses in the cupboards a little.

You know, to this day I still won't let the glasses' edges touch when I put them away in the cupboards. My wife asks why, and I have to laugh - it's so they won't rattle when we have a tremor!

'Course, that's all left over from growing up in Taiwan and Monterey (Fort Ord). We don't get a lot of earthquakes in Texas. Still, I'm prepared if we do! :)

It was Global Warming.

If we all switched to wind power and stopped driving cars the Earth would never move...

I felt it pretty good. I was babysitting in a house filled with glass, tall book cases and sharp, pointy things. Had a wee bit of panic trying to figure out a safe place for the both of us!

Thank god the weather wasn't particularly hot. It drives me up the wall when people sagely say Yep, this was earthquake weather.

Shit, I figured you'd blame it on Iranians, Iraqis, or other "terrist"...

Hey, now that you mention it, it DOES feel like earthquake weather in Texas! (Sorry - I couldn't resist)

I had just downloaded a dashboard widget called the Ayn Rand Lexicon.
The exact second I double-clicked on the Zip file is when the quake struck.

Y'know, ever since I bought The Fountainhead, everybody's been giving me a hard time: "Yikes! Don't read Ayn Rand! She's a Fascist!"
Now the gods are joining in!

Read The Fountainhead, then try Atlas Shrugged. They've changed my life. Twice.

:)

So "God" sent the terrorists? How can you possibly fight them, then, if they be God's will?

Drat ! My home is still standing.

But everyone's OK. That makes up for it.
