I think the only way to have an original superhero / supervillain is to have him / her dress as a drag queen. I mean there are dozens of evil doers out there in lab coats. Besides any selfrespecting Mad Doctor where goggles. All those explosions. Safety first.

I too had never heard of Dr. Steel before this whole thing came to light. I went to the sight to check it out and yeah the similarities are pretty much the outfit and the fact that they both sing. They don't even sing in the same genre from what I saw. I really doubt that Joss stole any of his work from Dr. Steel.

Plus I was bored to tears by the video I watched. It wasn't funny. It seemed more like the thing was trying to be serious. It was painful but I watched the rest of the video before deciding Dr. Steel was not for me.

Offhand...has anyone informed Dexter from Dexter's Lab that his act has been stolen from him by Dr. Steel?

Did anyone inform Gene Wilder that Dexter stole his Young Frankenstein costume? Or Warner Brothers that Young Frankenstein also exploited this stereotype from their cartoons...or the real Frankenstein for that matter?

It's a mad scientist costume stereotype, and I can't for the life of me figure out why people are all up in arms about it. It's silly!

Please...please, for the love of Buddha, I hope I don't run into any of these guys at D*C.

The thing I love about Browncoats, is that we are passionate but not militantly or zealously so...we come form a cross section of cultures/backgrounds...we are generally accepting...anyone who wants to belong can..and we have many other interests apart from Firefly/Serenity....I have never yet heard of a browncoat making noxious comments about other fansites, or scifi preferences, or demoralising anyone over their alternate choices. we are a pretty unique bunch in that respect, so it's mirthfully ironic that sooo many other groups feel the need to be negative towards us. I also found it funny that the "toy Soldiers" felt the need to state that their movement would be peaceful...did they think a bunch of Browncoats would turn up and beat the hell out of them? it's just not who we are.

I'm hoping common sense prevailed or at least the Dr Steel guys worked out that Whedon has many times as many followers as them and we're just as crazy as they are.

Of course, they aren't really similar at all. Their characteristics are entirely different, their outfits are only vaguely similar (if you gave someone $100 and told them to dress up as a evil Doctor, you'd almost always get a similar result) and you can judge a lot about a man by their sidekick. (I'd like to imagine the cold day in hell when Joss would assign female followers a PVC nurse's outfit as their default costume).

But even more than that, one of them is an actual video blog whereas the other is a short piece about someone who has a video blog. One of them has a character who sings, the other is a musical so everyone is singing but (there's probably some clever word or phrase for this) they're not aware that they're singing.

They really have bugger all in common.
