What happened to the Firefly automated RP "The Verse"?

Hi all,

I've been a lurker for a while, but I remember finding the link to the Firefly game "The Verse" on here. I had been on hiatus for about a month, when, upon returning to the bookmarked site, I found...no site.
Has the game been shut down? And, if not, where did it move? This is an awesome game, and I'd love to participate in it again.

If it is gone, where can I find another automated Firefly RP like it?

I've never heard of such a site, sorry. Maybe if you explained it better?

(P.S - Wrong board. This is for the VFF, a Roleplay. All other rolepalys are normally in the "Firefly Universe" board.)

Don't know what you mean by "automated," but if you can give me an idea of what it was that you participated in, I could probably point you towards any of the quality RPs that are around.

Basically, when you go to buy cargo to resell on other planets, you choose the desired cargo from a drop-down list. That takes you to a list of planets that sell the cargo, along with their prices, and the sector codes for each planet. You decide which planet you want to go to, write down the sector code, then when you go to the destination plotter, you type in the sector code. If you've got a jump drive, you can jump to the planet; if not, you click arrows to go to the planet.
That is what I mean. Almost little or no inter-player communication is needed, except for asking to ally your alliance with other alliances, or with the main Alliance(yes, that Alliance).
I ran an alliance that was an enemy of the main Alliance. It was called The Signal. My name on there was Portia Eppes, but I was trying to get it changed to Mrs. Universe(like it is here).

I remember it, but didn't play after a relatively short period of time for various reasons. But, I do recall that the person in charge of the site forgot to pay his bill on time at one point which shut-down the site for a little while. It might be that again. So, check back and see.

Also, as I recall (correct me if I'm wrong), the forums for the game were at a different url. So, if you have that link lying around, check that out too. You might get lucky.

As a shot in the dark, if you can remember the name of the person that was running it, you might want to check out that same name here. If it exists there is a chance that it might be the same person and you might be able to get some answers.

Obviously changing USERNAME appropriately.

If none of that works, you might want to check if the domain still exists. As in, the url, as I recall, was something like:

theverse.somewebsite.com

So, check to see if:

somewebsite.com

Is still registered and paid up. Where to check this out depends on the tld (.com, .ca, etc). Try:

http://www.internic.net/whois.html

For, .aero, .arpa, .biz, .cat, .com, .coop, .edu, .info, .int, .jobs, .mobi, .museum, .name, .net, .org, .pro, and .travel. Or:

http://cira.ca/en/home.html

For, .ca's.

Not sure about other tld's.

It actually wasn't complicated at all; fairly intuitive interface. The jist of something typically sounds *far* more complicated when one isn't "in the know."

From what I remember, and poking around that site, I figure that it is the same guy. Unfortunately, on the forums for the game on that site there's nothing past Feb posted; its been a while since he's done anything with it. So, if you find anything out, please post it.
