Episode content: Tie Season 3 & 4
Plot: Season 2
Outcome: Season 2
Overall: Season 2
I think alot of people underestimate Season 4. While I would agree that the overall plotline of 4 wasn't great (Adam and the Initiative were at best, "eh") there were TONS of great standalone episodes and memorable scenes.
"Let me get this straight. We use state-of-the-art weapons and tactics to defeat these creatures and you... poke them with a stick."
Simon: I've never shot anyone before.
Book: I was there, son. I'm fair sure you haven't shot anyone yet.

Overall Season 3 had the best episodes. It is without a doubt the Ultimate in the Senior year of High School experience.
Outcome Season 6. All of the Buffy seasons have a big bad but, if you rewatch the episodes, the fact that it will eventually be Willow is thrown in our faces then, pulled way back. I cant wait till my DVDs Get here so i can pass along my tapes.

Episode content - Season 6. You just get so much of Sarah Michelle Gellar really acting. Buffy is just so torn up by the world around her and forced to deal. I'm not overly fond of the Double Meat Palace, though. But "Dead Things" was pure genius.
Plot - Season 7. The march to war, the big victory at big cost, characters learning about their true nature. Good stuff.
Outcome - Season 2. Buffy is learning about the true cost of her gift. Killing Angel affects her life permanently.
Overall - Season 5. This season defines Buffy as a hero, and it defines the prupose of those arond her. Buffy figures out who she is and what she has to do. And it doesn't matter how many times I watch "The Gift," I still cry every time that sad piano tune comes on and we know she's going to sacrifice herself. Also, Spike's torn up look when he sees her lying on the bricks just makes me start bawling.

You know, I've been concentrating on Angel and Firefly so much for the last year I'd have to go back over my Buffy DVD's and tapes in order to do a thorough decision. But for now I'll agree with Angeldove and I'll tell you why.
I wasn't into Buffy when it first came out.(gasp!) I was a huge fan of vampires which is why I didn't like Buffy. I though it degraded the vampires. But, when I'd heard what had happened with Angel my mouth gaped open and I regreted not being there first-hand to see it. What balls Joss had for, not only, turning one of the main characters into the main villain and arch nemesis of the show, but killed off another character as well. I've been hooked ever since.
And you really couldn't ask for a better ending to a show than Season 5. Wow. Then it was all ripped away by Season 6. But, as disappointing as Season 6 was, so bad that I gave up on it, that history repeated itself when a quiet, kind, loving, gay little red-head turned into our hero's newest main villain and arch nemesis, as well as killing off another character of the show. Damn! Twice! You know it's funny. I never put those two together 'til now.
