*looks up from her clone, which is covered in drawings-due to her boredom*
Uhhhhh...not much...

Bluefishie's purple squid-thing pet pokes the thread.

On the medieval, magical planet Zanzibar:
Far below Puffenstuff’s School of Sorcery is a gigantic cavern, all of its surfaces glittering from the luminous gems embedded in them. In the midst of this cavern is a raised platform carefully shaped and carved from the living rock, the summit of which is high above the cavern floor.
Upon the platform, dimly illuminated by the sparkling walls, sits an old, thin man with sharp features. He is adorned with a circlet on his brow and rich black robes draped upon his form. He sits in ornate throne. The man sighs and glances toward the table at his left, upon which is set a small cage. Idly, he pokes through the bars with his wand. The thing inside skitters away from this torment. “Can you find enough courage to submit your report?” the man asks the empty air.
A ghostly image appears in the air before him. It bows deeply. “Yes, Lord Rector. I regret to inform you that one of the students is missing.”
Plaything forgotten, the enthroned man snaps his attention toward his subordinate. “A student?" he hisses through clenched teeth. “Which one? You are the Chamberlain. It is your responsibility to keep those brats under lock and key until I decide their fates!”
The Chamberlain pales. “The identity of the escapee is unknown, Lord Rector. The count came up short. The students themselves, even our regular informants among them, are unlikely to betray their classmate.”
“Then what DO you know?”
“In order to escape, he or she must have passed the Wards undetected.”
Rector leans back in his chair and steeples his fingers before him. “He could only pass the Wards if he could mask his form.”
The ghostly Chamberlain nods vigorously. “A shapeshifter, my Lord, beyond any doubt!”
“But to mask their human thoughts…” Rector ponders.
“To mask their thoughts in such a way as to avoid the Wards, they must be exceptionally gifted. Such wizards can do more than appear as an animal. They can think as an animal. They can BECOME an animal.”
Rector leans forward, considering this news. “One of Professor Ulf’s pupils, do you think?”
“Yes, Lord. He taught Advanced Poly-shaping.”
“Good. SOME progress, at least! I want a name! Drag Professor Ulf from whatever dungeon we dropped him in, and subject him to the Treatment.”
The Chamberlain frowns. “Lord, I regret to inform you that Professor Ulf no longer has the power of speech. Nor, I judge, of reason. He has endured the Treatment four times already for various offenses. There’s not much of him left.”
In a fit of temper, Rector sweeps his arms wide and knocks the small cage from the table next to him. It falls next to the base of the throne with a crash. The thing inside does not move.
“PICK THAT UP!” an enraged Rector commands, pointing down.
Suddenly, before the Chamberlain can respond, a second ghostly form appears. It bows to the Lord Rector. “Headmaster!” he says.
In response, there is a great rumble from behind Rector. The cavern floor shakes. Dust and chips of gemstones fall from the ceiling high above. Rector leaps to his feat and spins about to view the rear of the cavern.
All three forms stay still and silent.
The rumbling subsides.
Rector turns to face the newcomer. “Use that title again, and I shall have your head!”
The new ghostly form cringes. “Yes, Lord. But Lord, all along the Watchtower, there are strangers in the Dim Forest!”
Rector raises an eyebrow. “Strangers?”
Glad to have Rector’s attention diverted from him, the Chamberlain’s image slowly backs away and becomes smaller.
The new visitor produces visions for the benefit of his master. The first shows a woman next to a giant within a clearing inside the forest. “This pair have cleared away some of the trees to make a lovely green parkland, interspersed with hills, woods, and areas of deep sand. They have dug eighteen tiny holes, each marked with a flag. They are waving long metal wands about. Clearly the preparations for some elaborate ritual s

OOC: Okay, Bride5 and her giant friend are at the golf course they made in the midst of the forest. Jadehand might still be hovering over the ocean in his Ocean Cloud. Mai, her Potter clones, Browncoat07, Bluefishie, her purple squid friend, and anybody else who wants to are wandering the Dim Forest, sometimes destroying ominous warning (or directional) signs. This group may actually be two groups. You work it out. There is at least one more shuttle landed somewhere.
As to the escaped student and the hand… you each know who you are!
And Sereni-Tree? It is in orbit.

I actually got to see that performed on stage when Bill Bailey did a charity gig, alongside Kevin Eldon (the sinister looking guy on the right) last year, alongside Seryn.
Where is that girl anyway?

Finally free of the tortuous game of poke, her fingers quickly scamper across the rocky ground. The thumb digs in and pulls the wrist back while the pinky desperately reaches forward in hopes of escape. Eventually the thumb relents, allowing the hand to flee.

Sometimes I lie awake at night, and I ask, "Where have I gone wrong?" Then a voice says to me, "This is going to take more than one night."

OOC:Too, cool. They appear to be quite amusing! I've heard of Kraftwerk, but never really knew anything about them.
Now that you mention it, haven't seen Seryn around for a while...
TWG! Good to see you again! (Even if you are just a hand... and, hey, how did THAT happen?)

*Happily relaxed and chatting with her friends, Mai feels a chill run down her spine.
The land beneath their feet shakes slightly.
"Did you guys feel that?"
A darkness starts to creep in far too early in the day.
Just as she speaks one of the clones runs up to the group pointing at the school. A shimmering wall of fog appears where the front gates began and starts to flow slowly towards them.

*Out of the shadows comes bounding a medium sized rat. It stops every now and then to sit on its haunches and sniff the breeze around it, the long whiskers and ears twitching like crazy.
Blinking to itself in satisfaction, it jumps off the large rock it used to survey its area, trotting off and onto a safe-smelling path.*

"Why do I always pick up the strays?"
