They could have had Picard go back in time a thousand years & actually meet and live with all the friends and family that he "lived" with during his 25-minute lifetime experience. He could have time travelled in a variety of ways....the warp-breakaway method, the Guardian of Forever method, or the Bajoran orb method.

Hey Jungsstraw:

That was my favorite episode. With Picard living a whole other life. That was well written.
I suspect they will never bring back any of the original casts for a Trek movie after this movie.

Hi Traveller

The Inner Light used to be consistently voted by ST:NG fans as the #1 episode, at least by fans in So. Florida who would vote when the local channel used to air the re-runs regularly & they would put on Marathons. I really do love that episode more than I can describe, because for me it's very personal. I usually feel like an "outsider" or a "stranger in a strange land" much as Picard/Kaman felt when he first arrived.

Also my favorite episode. I still get that tune in my head from time to time and it takes me a second or so to place it. Music always makes a larger impression on me that anything else and I rarely forget any sort of tune or theme from a series. I really wasn't aware that the more hardcore fans also loved that episode as much as I do.

ALSO.... You can download the trailer in HD from here. I find this a lot more conveinient since I always have problems getting stuff to load on YouTube.

As a Florida native I remember several fan voted marathons featuring that episode and I also like it, although I wouldn't call it my favorite.

As for a Voyager movie, I think they could go numerous places with it, as I have a fair amount of ideas of my own. I also think a TNG Voyager crossover movie would be great, or maybe a series about the USS Titan, Riker's new ship that according to several books Tuvok is the first officer of.

I guess everyone who is happy this movie is being made should thank their lucky stars that Star Trek: Enterprise was such an abysmal series.

Hey, now. I was one of the 4.3 million fans that actually enjoyed STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE. But this doesn't surprise me. Only a fraction of the Trek fanbase gave it a chance, not even after Manny Coto took the helm in Season 4. If they had only allowed him to continue through the now absent Seasons 5,6 & 7, people would have realized how great a series it truly was... or could have been.

Sorry. I had no idea it lasted that long. I guess I gave up on it kind of early.

I stuck with it thru season 2, but after the enemy mine ripoff episode, I had to call it quits. That was at least the third or fourth (or more) plotline that was clearly the exact same one from another movie or television show. And then there were the ones that seemed to revolve around getting the vulcan chick sweaty and nearly naked. Too wierd. I liked it ok, but all that got old real fast, and I stopped. I had no idea it went on for that many seasons, either.

I'm hoping the new trek can maybe revitalize Star Trek. Not so much because I so dearly miss it (I WAS a major Trekkie in my day, but I'm a tried and true Browncoat now) but because I want more Sci Fi. Movies, TV, anything, new, remade, whatever I can get :) bonus for that: if they make lots of it, it's more likely some of it will be Firefly - or at least made by Joss :)

Same reason I'm really looking forward to this film. I think the Trek franchise has a lot to offer that it hasn't put out there yet.

I'm a bit more neutral on the topic of Enterprise. I really didn't care much for the first two or three seasons. Some episodes were ok but it was a little dry and like most Trek series they ripped themselves off a bit. Even TNG did this at first. Though not as often. It's hard when doing a series that is a continuation of the style of a previous series to not do something more than once. Enterprise did have more than a few original episodes(well at least not rip offs of TOS, TNG and Voy... I never watched all of DS9)

Either way I'll be in the theaters on Christmas day with my family... or at least the day after with my dad and maybe another family member.
