You're right. I missed her in 'The Unit'.

Why mess with a good thing? Like Joss said, Summer is the best damn action hero in this country. Her terminator and river roles are great roles for her. She is amazingly skilled and graceful. The fight in Serenity with the Reevers was the sexiest fight scene I have ever seen in my life. I think she has found her groove and I say more power to her.

I stated in another post that I would really like to see her in some kind of high emotion drama. Take the reaction she gets from people on this board about her emotional stuff in FF and then place it in a real life setting. She'd be breaking hearts all over again.

She already has some good exposure thanks to Terminator. Just the brand name alone will get people interested in it and hopefully finding out who she is. If the show is a success (fingers crossed) then it will only get better for her.

And I gotta go with BadKarma. If she's in it, I'm watching it.

Thirded !

The big upside to the current attention in TTSCC

is that people will evermore say : I like that

girl ! What else has she been in ?

Which means bringin' more folk to the 'Verse...

More BROWNCOAT Folk !

Thank You , Summer Glau !
Browncoats Fly with You , Mei-mei !

Summer is young. Give her time. She will have opportunities to play all sorts of roles. Anyway, are there any normal roles out there? I watch the Law and Order series and I'm as frightened by the weird police officers as I am the criminals at times.

While I'm not as big a Summer fan as everyone else here, yes I do hope that someone decides to put her in a "normal" role that shows off some more versatility from her. She needs an Adrienne Shelley, the way Nathan Fillion had one. And while TSCC maybe a bigger name and series to be associated with, in a way it's kind of a step down. River might have been one note for my taste, but there was potential to show off various emotions. Cameron is literally a robot. The trick is to show zero emotion.

And I'm sure after two ass-kicking roles, that even Summer herself is getting bored by it and wants to be in something that would premiere at Sundance or be a critical or award darling.

The thing about our BDH'S is that half the cast are famous only for FIREFLY, while the other half are famous for other things along with FIREFLY. Like Alan. Even though we refer to him as Wash, other's might think of him as Steve the Pirate or Sonny the Robot or Katherine Heigl's boss in KNOCKED UP or a number of other roles that he takes and makes his own. Nathan has WAITRESS and DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES to show his versatility. Gina has been on so many other series and movies. Ron has already had a long career with Barney Miller. Book is probably the icing on the cake for him. With Ossie Davis gone, maybe Spike Lee can put him in one of his flicks. And Adam I think is just as famous for MY BODYGUARD, CHUCK and as Animal Mother in FULL METAL JACKET. I know if I were to meet him, I'd be bugging him more about Stanley Kubrick than about Joss Whedon.

But with Summer, Jewel, Sean and Morena, they seem to be only known for FIREFLY so far. And with Summer and Jewel on two sci-fi shows, and the latter apparently dropping off the face of the Earth, they do run the risk of relative obscurity. So yeah, their managers and agents need to be getting off their asses to get them some more prestigious, high profile work so that they're not relying on royalty checks.

Haven't seen much of Sean , but Morena is still

getting work...And it's good work...She'll be

around...Just isn't yet the time for her big star

turn...

Cameron the Terminator *will* be showing some

emotion...There are many foreshadowings already...

Bad, Naughty, Bad Hixie. How could you say that about her? That's just demeaning.

I'm disappointed in you. And sorry if I seem anal about it, but I...That's just...Wrong Bad Sao Gao and fills my soul with all sorts of flowery cursing in French.

I just don't want River to get type cast into sci-fi roles only... There could be a lot more movie opportunities as a seductress, and showing some flesh doesn’t hurt the career

Reading the recent Summer interview, she really wanted this terminator role. She did not think she had a chance of getting it, but she really wanted it and auditioned for it anyhow.

If being typecast helps her get the roles she really really wants, more power to her.

It used to be said that hooker roles and "mentally challenged" roles were the ones to get awards from. If it helps her get some awards or recognition, it's fine for her to do a hooker role. As long as it's not some garbage like Jessica Alba pretending to be a stripper in SinCity, being the only primary cast member without nudity, and the only stripper role in the film - how lame! (yes, I enjoy Alba, but she should not have done this role)
