That "Area 51" story was false. Expect to hear a lot of BS and speculation about this movie, but take it all with a grain of salt.
I'm more excited about Paramount going back to TOS for this movie, than a Voyager movie. Voyager was never good Star Trek, and wasn't worthy of a feature length film. DS-9, yeah, but Voyager?

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

I love the original series even though I feel it doesn't hold up as well after all these years. Sorta like the folks who watched it the first time around huh? I think it's a good idea to reinvigorate the franchise. Prequels can be done well. The Star Wars prequels didn't fail for what they were more so than for who directed and wrote them. If done properly they could have worked. I think they got a (mostly) well picked cast and a good crew so I'm optimistically hopeful. I like Quinto as Spock though I agree he's a bit short and I'm wondering about his voice. If he tries too hard to sound like Leonard Nimoy he might ruin the entire film, yet the opposite could happen as well.
Anyway I think it's going to be a good movie. I also KNOW Trek fans will be bitch'n and screaming for years and years.... Sorry folks it got too mainstream and they are going to try to make it watchable to the other carbon units inhabiting this little rock. I'm not really a Trekkie.. honest.
Oh well I'm off to watch the 1:00 showing of Cloverfield. I'm looking forward to the trailers.

I've been a fan for decades and look eagerly ahead to the new film...
... I also expect the skeptics to slam it unendingly like they did when TNG was being created. In the end, TNG was popular touting a fanbase of 40 million + at the peak of its ratings.
JJ is gonna do a fine job, imo, despite what everyone says. So, the one thing I know I can count on is Trek fans complaining until its release.
I'm going in with an open mind and will either love or hate it AFTER it hits the theaters.

I'm a somewhat unconcerned fan. I guess my love of a handful of episodes make me a Novice Trekkie. Overall though I've never been obsessed or enamored with the franchise much. Either way I don't identify myself as a Trekkie and never really wanted to be.
I'm a Browncoat all the way. Nothing else will ever overshadow that.
