Operation Signal Boost 2008 is simply a continuation of the project started last year by The Slightly Irregular Browncoats of serenitymovie.org. In short, OSB is a series of posts sent around the Cortex, to suggest various ways that Browncoats can celebrate the Sereniverse, benefit Charity, and get the Signal out to those as needs it.

May 6th -Ariel Ambulance Day

June 23rd -Can't Stop The Serenity Screenings & Joss Whedon's Birthday

July 24th -Summer Glau's Birthday
August 18th -BDCE Day: 1st Anniversary of the Serenity Collector's Edition
September 20th -Firefly Day: 6th Birthday of Firefly and the Sereniverse
September 30th -Serenity Day (Also called Sereniversary Day): 3rd Anniversary of the BDM
October 10th-12th -Browncoat Ball in Austin, TX
October 29th -Tim Minear's Birthday
December 9th -Browncoat Day: Anniversary of the Variety Ad supporting Firefly (2002), and the Anniversary of the FF Box Set Release (2003)
PLUS, anything else anybody can think of, & any Firefly Marathons on Sci/Fi Channel.

You know we should declare Adam Baldwin's B-day as Jayne Day and wear Jayne hats and shirts all day. Not sure if there already is an official Jayne Day or not... oh well on Feb 27th I'm going to anyway. That's assuming I get my hat before them, I doubt it but I'm a patient man. If not I'll just wear my Blue Sun t-shirt and swear a more than usual. Oh and attempt to make Mudder's Milk. People already think I'm bugnuts anyway so why not?

That's the spirit, StrangeBird! All of these dates listed are great excuses for drawing attention to the 'verse, and getting new folks interested in being Browncoats. I think Jayne Day is an Excellent idea. It's a perfect excuse for having a Jayne-themed get-together and watching "Jaynestown". :)

We should keep track of these suggestions and try our best to do them fandom wide if it's not stepping on a previous special day.
Thank you TD for putting down all those wonderful days and giving us a chance to think about what we can all still do.
It's fun to just hang out on the boards together, but it can also be fun to do something!

You know I've been thinking about a Jayne day idea for awhile now. I'm more a Kaylee and Wash fan myself but I also love Jayne since even though on the outside he's a hard-assed killer on the inside I'm sure he's just a softie. Characters should be like a cake, the more different the layers the better.
Anyway I doubt I'll have the funds for a little shindig in my area even if I could round up more than two or three Browncoats. Especially given where I live out in the country and the fact I currently suffer from a bad case of unemployment. Maybe next year when I have a well-paying job and I'm living in Kansas City, Missouri. I hear theres a few of us down that way. As a matter of fact a couple of them are related to me.

I live in Missouri as well... only way south of where you'll be in KC.
If you get together with KC BC's and do a shindig or a charity screening, be sure and let the rest of us Missourians know. I don't have any BC's close to me and I do have a brother who lives outside of KC, so I could make a trip up to do something.

Awesome. It's going to be awhile. The house still isn't sold and it looks like it will be a month at the very least before it starts showing frequently again. South Dakota winters -even the mild ones- are not fun. I will definitely put notice here on the boards and on my Myspace page if I'm involved in any Firefly related events. I've never even been to a convention so I'm really interested in doing something with other Browncoats.
