Welcome to the board, MissAyaTam.

I went to see a movie the other day, Touching the Void, at an alternative theatre in town. Later, I was cleaning out my wallet and noticed that the ticket stubs said 'Alliance theatre' on them. I thought to myself "Oh, no! I didn't mean to support the Alliance!!"

I'm going to the American Craft Council tomorrow. That's a show for fine arts and crafts - glass work, crystal, metalsmithing, metal working, bronze, wood, fabrics, leather - for them as think the Renaissance festival merchandise can be pricey? They are garage sales compared to this. I think only the Catskill Moccassins, Felix Needleworthy and one other costumer in Minnesota measure up to this.

But what am I telling people?

"I'm going to the ACC tomorrow to ogle the pretties!"

God bless you Kaylee.

Have a good time.

Are you talking about Laura, the Emerald Lady? 'Cause she won't be out there this year - she's selling the booth, her house and buying a place in the country to hang out with her horses, I believe. Good for her, but major bummer for the rest of us! She's selling her gowns, too - if you have thousands of dollars to blow, I think I still have her contact info.

I know your name, Jackass.

Hey!

Post ACC:

So I'm at my favorite leather vendor's booth. Pretty coats made of sheepskin. I touched the soft sleeve of one, smiled at Karen and said, "Browncoat!"

Then I spied a hat, grinned even bigger and said "Thrillin' heroics hat!"

Mmm. I've played Pern-based RPGs (MOO in this instance) for years, and I've gotten several game friends into Firefly by talking about it so damn much. We have this tendency to try to figure out which Firefly character our character most resembles - and so when Celeste, our very Kaylee-esque character, went to a party (Shindig, of course), we simply couldn't resist the.. puns? Homage? Tribute? Whatever. A sampling, for your snickering pleasure.

Celeste's hovering somewhere, wearing a pink and frilly gather dress, and beaming around at the gather. She's not with anyone, exactly, but the group of eavesdropping apprentices isn't far from her, and she turns to beam at them. "This is just /lovely/, isn't it?" When they don't answer, she turns back to watching, clapping enthusiastically as the dignitaries start to trail out.

Celeste, stationed somewhere near the buffet table, beams one of her super-smiles toward Morallen. "The food's /great/," she informs him brightly. "I think there's some kind of hot cheese." She would have said more, most likely, if she didn't spot the look on Morallen's face quickly followed by Aerrin not far behind him. "Master Aerrin! Did you see all the dresses?" She sighs a bit, wistfully. "I'm definitely making an appointment with the weavers when I get back."

Oh shards. Slinking halted, Morallen at least has the grace to face his fate like a man. Arranging Celeste's hand in the crook of his arm in proper gentlemanly fashion, he lets himself be dragged away with the parting comment to Flynn of "Yeah, and plague is worse'n a head cold, but that doesn't mean you have to rejoice at getting one." And then they're away. "I think I know this one," says Morallen regarding the current tune the Harpers are playing, deftly inserting Celeste into a position in the dance and taking his own mark with a bow. He's still not smiling, or moving with anything other than precise care at making sure Celeste enjoys herself, since he won't be, but at least he's out on the floor?

Celeste trails along behind Morallen, looking quite fetching in her layered-cake dress and beaming happily. "Lucky you," she remarks in reply to his comment on knowing the dance, and off she goes, twirling happily. As she comes back to take Morallen's hand, she raises an eyebrow at her non-smiling face. "What, is this not your type of party?" Another circle and twirl as they seperate, and back again as she comments, "Everyone's so beautiful. Like little bits of colored cloth blowing around."

I had a Firefly moment last fall, M-O-N-T-H-S (ok, it was only 2 months but it felt like eons) before the DVD came out. I was watching something I had taped that week on an old VHS tape. When the show ended, I just laid there instead of rewinding, mildly curious about what I had taped over. Thank goodness I did because I caught "War Stories" from it's original air date!! It was just after Mal and Wash get taken. My eyes popped open and I sat straight up. I wanted to cheer with someone, but, alas, no one was there. So I just kind of sputtered, pointing at the TV, looking around the empty room.

I watched it twice that night, my poor ragged little piece of a show. I swear, it was like finding my old security blanket my mom claimed to have thrown out when I was 3 and she wanted to get me to stop sucking my thumb!

I watched it again everytime I missed my show, until Christmas day when I watched my spankin' new DVDs all day long!

Mal-licious

I just hate it when I lose my cursor... Missed you at LOTR tonight... The steaks were juicy, the wine was nice and then, there was Viggo! *sigh*

Girls put A Knights Tail in and as the first scene came on I looked up from my computer and said "Whoa! What episode is this? Wash dyed his hair?" Spent the rest of the movie waiting for Serenity to fly by...
