First, everyone hasn't seen Angel.
Second, David is an ACTOR.

That's like saying that SMG shouldn't be cast as anything like a villian because she was Buffy.

If you're distracted seeing an actor play more than one role then it must be really difficult for you to watch TV or movies at all.

Tallgrrl, it's really a shame that everyone else who disagreed with me could do it in a civil way without being condescending and rude, but you couldn't. I'm not asking you to agree with me, or even try to, but there is such a thing as a point of view that differs from yours.

I'm not saying that they can't play other parts, they are actors and they need jobs, but I hold to my point that it would be distracting.

I'm also not saying that it would be "too distracting for me to deal with" or however you have interpreted it. I just think it would be mildly distracting and I would probably forget all about it after seeing a minute of him as a Firefly character anyway.

Next time I'll be sure to clarify exactly the degree of distraction so no one gets confused.

As far as this being a rumor, I believe the original rumor started on here after someone talked to Gina Torres at a sci-fi convention and reported that she said that he was going to be in the movie. Now this magazine is reporting as well and I am pretty sure they would have checked their sources twice so I see it as this is probably the real deal.

Usually there isn't really a reason to hide who is going to be in the movie unless the actors haven't signed the contracts.

Now this isn't official news but it is pretty damn close to being official.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

"I think that would be an absolutely horrendous idea since he is so recognizable as Angel. It would be really distracting."

Actually, anything that brings people to the box office is a Good Thing for FireFly. Boreanaz (I can't spell his last name either) is a Big Name, and a reasonable actor. He's probably also eager to show he can do something other than Vampire roles.

Even if it didn't make the best movie possible, what FireFly needs is the most successful movie possible.

Whoa, whoa, whoa: relax! This is just my opinion. I think it will be distracting TO ME to see David B. in Serenity because I've watched him for so long on Buffy and Angel as Angel. It's only natural to associate a person with a character they have played for over 5 years. Hell, on Angel the other night, I automatically screamed "Jayne!" when Adam Baldwin came onscreen. (And yeah, he looked like Jayne, because Jayne is just Adam Baldwin with a goatee...just because the clothes and mannerisms weren't the same doesn't mean he doesn't look like himself).

It's not as if I have anything against David B, he's a great actor, but I think if there are going to be crossovers among shows, it should be kept away from Firefly as much as possible. Going back and forth between Buffy and Angel isn't too much of a stretch of the imagination because they are the same genre (and Angel's a spinoff, crossover characters make sense).

I even felt it was a bit distracting to see the guys that played Dobson and Tracey because of their roles on previous Joss Whedon shows. Even knowing Womack was on the tv show Sentinel was a bit distracting. It just takes away a bit of my suspension of disbelief.

I'm not saying that there are only certain actors that should be allowed to be in Serenity, but I feel that Joss should stay away from using the huge iconic ones who had their own shows like DB and SMG.

Again, JUST MY OPINION.

Heh heh, yep. Tom Hanks is great, but I just couldn't help but think, all the way through Apollo 13, "GUMP... IN... SPACE."

Since when is David Boreanaz a big name I mean don't take this the wrong way I'm not saying that he's a bad actor but I haven't seen him in anything really big.

Dearheart,
I'm sorry if you thought I was being condescending or rude. It's too bad that one can't actually HEAR irony or a tongue planted firmly in one's cheek when one merely READS a post.
I hoped that the wink or grin emoticon would make my meaning clear, but apparently it hadn't.
Sorry if your feeling were hurt.
But hell, if I got distracted by an actor plying his craft, I'd never be able to watch a movie or go to the theatre, or watch TV!
