I threw my hands up in despair and stormed out- movie and/or show moments with which we just couldn't deal...

I read Beowulf, and, uh, it didn't seem to be the stuff of a movie...they must have added more than just inconsistent animation to it...

yeah they totally did. he never sleeps with grendel's mother in the book, he kills her. the dragon comes like decades later. I don't remember any 'curse of grendel's dam' in the book. My high school english teacher wouldn't be happy with that inconsistency :P ;)

ENCHANTED
Oh my God, this is the biggest mistake I've made recently in terms of seeing a trailer and thinking "OK, I think I might like this." I went in thinking that this'll be Disney finally going post-modern after seeing how SHREK schooled their asses six years ago.
Five minutes it, I was thinking to myself "Put a gun in my mouth and paint the seats with my brains." Mind you, this was only the animated part of it. Decided to stick it out for the live action bulk. One hour in, and then there's a musical number in Central Park. Talk about going back on what you promised and completely negating the point of the entire movie. Rats, pigeons and cockroaches cleaning an apartment I'll buy, but not a Central Park musical number. After the SHREK trilogy (which even though the third one was lame had the various princesses going into asskicking mode), it's hard for me to take this stuff seriously at all. And at that point, I said to myself, "OK, that's it for me." I'll be blaring death metal and grunge from my iPod to get the memory of those songs out of my head. I hated those Disney songs when I was a boy, and I still hate them today.
I don't care if BEOWULF is inaccurate or a 300 knock-off or has shoddy animation. At least it doesn't make a non-diabetic six year old girl search for an insulin needle.
Never have I wanted to see THE MIST and NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN more than I do now. After seeing what I have of ENCHANTED, I need to see something that looks like it's escaped from the gaping maw of the abyss. And if I ever have a daughter, I will only show her Miyazaki, SOUTH PARK, BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES, GARGOYLES, JUSTICE LEAGUE, FUTURAMA, AMERICAN DAD, Joss Whedon shows and the most gory ultra-violent stuff out there so that she won't be asking me for a princess themed birthday party or anything akin to that.
I imagine the irony is that the people that didn't like BEOWULF or DARJEELING LIMITED (two movies I really liked, actually) will probably love this.

ew, enchanted? I'm sorry, I really am. I saw the trailer for that, and the first words out of my mouth were "oh my god disney ripped off its own original classics." Not to mention the fact that I realized they have truly run out of ideas for anything new and original. If you need to borrow some BLS or Korn or whatever to get those -i'm gonna go with- atrocious songs you heard, let me know.
Honestly, I kinda can't wait for Jumper to come out in Feb. I'm waiting for the book to be reprinted so I can get it (according to amazon it is being reprinted)

Well, as it turns out, both THE MIST and NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN were good enough cleansers to wipe any residue of ENCHANTED off of me. The former is this years DESCENT (that is, a scary movie that's actually fucking scary), and it is quite possibly the most bleak, nihilistic thing you'll see in theaters. I know some people will see the ending as a cop-out, but taken in context of the entire flick and what happened right before the big reveal, it's pretty devastating.
And then NO COUNTRY was almost as bleak, but it's more subtle. You don't have an immediate reaction to it of "That was FUCKING AWESOME!!!" It sits with you for a while. I think it'll take a few day and maybe another viewing of it for it's power to sink it. I mean, it's as fine made as a Swiss watch, but it's emotional impact is subtle and not right away.
But it definitely drowns out Amy Adams and those fucking songs. If they pop back in my head, I can just picture Anton Chigurh pressing the cattle gun against Amy Adams' forehead. Or Marcia Gay Harden commanding a mob to throw McDreamy out into the mist as a sacrificial lamb.

I never walked out on them (because both times I was with one of my brothers) but I absolutely hated (and by hated I mean made me sick to my stomache and made me want to vomit) two blatantly unecessarily violent films. One of them a favorite among The Coats.
Even Horizon, which made no sense and was just a blood bath (and consequently gave me nightmares for a year, I kid you not)
And Sincity, which I looked forward to, but in the end it was all I could do to keep my stomache from bringing up my breakfast.
They were both unecessary gratutuos violence (some will disagree about SC) and I hope never to see either of them again.
But now I understand there's going to be a sequel for SC. Now there's a tonne of wasted money that can be put to better films. *ugh*

Aw now see, my brother loved Sin City, but I never got a chance to see it (we have pretty much the same tastes). Event Horizon, not one of my faves, but not too bad.
One I should have walked out on was Ultraviolet. You wanna talk about one long, bloody swordfight...

I have never walked out on a film, but there have been some that I should of left.
A good friend and I saw the James Bond move 'The World is not Enough' in the theater and we were laughing through out the film due to the obsurdity of the plot, action and effects.

the older bond movies were definitely better. and Clive Owen SO should have gotten the part for the latest bond over Daniel Craig. Daniel Craig is not a Bond kinda person.
