I've not seen Spider or Eastern Promise so I can't comment on those, but given where Cronenberg was heading with Crash I'd ere on the side of caution and maintain my wide, very wide birth of any more of his films.

--by decade I meant within the 10 yr period from 79 to 89, sry for not specifying. and actually, SW4 came out in 77, and SW5 in 80 so i was off by a year, but both were still far better than ST, and since both ST and SW were made in the seventies, SW was the better ;-)

Didn't wlk out, but just saw beowolf, was really annoyed by the lousy animation fro start to end. almost as bad as Saturday cartoons. Heavy Metal was much better.

Cant agree with you more! I read in another post that his/her IQ fell while watching some film well if you like this film you cant have any IQ whatsoever IMO. Its so bad it took me 20mins to walk out of it. I really couldnt believe that film.

Honestly, if they went through all the trouble of hiring actors and having them go through the motions and then layering the CG on top of it, why not just do a live-action thing? I tried, I really did, but I just couldn't take that movie seriously.

I love disaster flicks, post-apocolyptic stories, etc. I like all types - the good, the cheesey, even semi-bad ones (Armageddon, Dante's Peak, Mad Max, Andromeda Strain) and can appreciate the story, effects, and/or general themes, but I could not stomach Waterworld. I even tried watching it again years after to see if maybe I just wasn't in the right mood the first time around, but almost had to poke my eyes out with a dull spoon. I have never seen the entire film, and am resentful of the time I did lose to that stupid waste of celluloid.

Agreed. I had heard really bad critic reviews of the Postman, so I didn't see it for the longest time, but happened to catch it on cable one afternoon and enjoyed it enough to watch the whole thing. I don't know what Costner was thinking when he did Waterworld! Temporary insanity??? I know that's how I felt watching the few minutes I saw...
