well, we just got a new jacuzzi on the deck in back. I came home the other night to find my wife giving herself a sponge bath as the sun set... ;0)

If we're going down THAT road, a few weeks back a girl I know was hitting on me (HAH, geeks can get some too) and I heard Book in my head going "If you take sexual advantage of her, you're going to burn in a very special hell". It WAS kind of a Saffron situation, I should point out. But since this is a family friendly site, I say no more.

My morality is based on a cancelled TV show. it'd be depressing if it weren't so funny.

This morning we were discussing my eventual return home and our Commander made the comment, "Yep. . .another 16 days before the Air Force starts cancelling out flights out of here."

I looked at him and said, "I appreciate your honesty. Not. . .you know. . .ALOT. . ." (Duran Heywood, YoSafBridge's former husband in "Trash")

A couple of days ago, one of the mechanics went on a tirade about all manner of conspiracies. One of his co-workers stood there patiently for a moment before saying, "I hate to interrupt you in the middle of your crazy time, but we have work to do!" I almost died laughing.

"Wash. . .we got some local color happening. A grand entrance would not go amiss."

She knocked you out, stole your shuttle and left you and your crew for dead?

Had a Firefly moment this morning @ work. Someone in the hall was humming a tune and it sounded, I swear, like the Ballad of Serenity. I stopped her and asked what song it was, and she said she wasn't sure, she had just heard it somewhere & it stuck in her head.

Now I am sitting here w/ the Ballad running through my head. Wish I had my CD here w/ the song on it.

"May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one."

I just returned from two weeks in London with my family. My children, 13, 10, and 5, live with my wife and me in a small town, population 900. Moving around tubes, footpaths, and so on, especially with luggage, and not inconveniencing everyone else in the UK in the process was a bit of a chore. However, whenever I called out "Blue Hands" they all managed to settle into two abreast more or less instantly.

I have very shiny children.

That's pretty shiny - getting your children to behave with only two words. My mother used to have to yell at me and my brother during car rides, "Walkin' ain't all took up y'know!"

Her father used to say it to her, back in the day. Sounds very Firefly to me now. Something Mal might say to Kaylee and River as they tore through the cargo bay again.

Yesterday on the Today show, Lester used the words "notion" and "fess up" within a sentence of each other.

Laying there in a haze of sleep-deprivation combined with cold medication, I grinned and told my cat, "He's got a very Firefly frame of mind today, doesn't he?"

Simon, my cat, just blinked like it was all normal.

this may look like a response to BC's post, but really it's a better way to deal with a double post...

Take my love, take my land
Take me where I cannot stand
I don't care, I'm still free
You can't take the sky from me

Take me out to the black
Tell ‘em I ain’t comin’ back.
Burn the land And boil the sea -
You can’t take the sky from me.

Have no place I can be
Since I found Serenity -
But you can’t take the sky from me.

That last lyric always gives me a little chill...
