Oh, come on! If any one else here cried that they were "taken way out of context" after they'd (apparently privately) asked that someone's posts be 'tracked', you'd be raising the Police State flag. So when do you start tapping my phone?
Hey, I grabbed the wrong word, but it WAS followed with "See if a pattern emerges". So if you think about it, what else could I posibly have meant? Bird-dog your posts to your home address?

It's a good thing I don't have a Taser in-hand!

Hmm, so you ARE the one who determines the context of SignyM's statements.

Come on. Siggy was trying to be arch, and got called on it. Note that in this context, arch means knowing, or clever.

Actually 'see(ing) if a pattern emerges' is pretty much synonymous with 'profiling'. Profiling seems like even more of an invasion than tracking.

Hey, I could keep this up all day.

You got played, Siggy. Move on.

So, now YOU get to interpret my motives? I wasn't meaning to be "arch". I wanted to point out yur posts to AnthonyT for a couple of reasons:

Most people are pretty overt in their opinions and IMHO relatively unsubtle about expressing them. Your posts are different, but they may get lost in the shuffle. I was asking Anthony to simply pay a little more attention to your posts than to some people who may grab a little more attention because of the language that they use.

And if anyone sees a pattern of argumentation emerging? So what? What are you so afraid of? That someone may think "Wow, that Geezer is sure a clever guy!"? Or coversely "Wow, that Geezer is sure a weasly rat!"?

May I be honest? I KNOW I'm gonna catch hell for this but... Most of you seem quite fearful: fearful the mildest form of social controlo, which is simply to be noticed and remembered by your peers. Fearful of standing behind your own words. A lot of you who would freely apply tasers and surviellance to others suddenly whither if just a LITTLE potentially unfavorable attention comes your way.

YOU have never seen an open call to the webmaster to report your particulars to the FBI. YOU have never been followed, nor have you had to think about what would happen to your disabled child if you should disappear, even for for a few days. But if that shoe even gets close to YOUR foot, you suddenly shrivel like a salted slug!

I apologize for choosing the wrong word. I simply meant "remember" or "study over time" but I was in a hurry chose a word with unfavorable conotations. Now, if you want worry about it in the context of a discussion among a bunch of geeks on an open forum- feel free.

You could be mugged on your way to your car tonight, you could be involved in an accident, you could be murdered in your bed. However the overwhelming probability is that none of those things will happen.

Posting here is not a valiant act. Being "right on" on an online BBS does not make you Che Guevara, trust me if the country slides into insanity the blackshirts will have far more important folks to "disappear" than you.

You didn't get my point: They already have. To me. For posting on an open forum just like this. The sentence that truly got me in trouble? I was posting about the war in Afghanistan, and said "I would be worried about biological warfare about now". A week later, anthrax letters were mailed. You think you're immune from suspicion? Not necessarily so.

Well you THINK the FBI followed you (--- as you recall some of us think that was too amateurish for the FBI.)

If it did happen as you believe, what an appauling waste of public money. Seriously, I read only about 25% of your posts and even I can see that you're harmless. Maybe a lil bit paranoid but largely you feel impotent and frustrated rather than angry and resentfull. You would hardly be high enough up my suspect list to pay the manpower on a multi car tail.

Unless there is something about you we don't know?

Fletch2, I live in a very quiet low-density neighborhood with very little traffic andalmost no street parking. It is very unsual for a car to be parked on the street, much less at the end of my driveway. So when I see a guy w/ a cup of coffee and a map waiting for me at the end of my driveway, who follows me thru four turns onto a freeway and halfway to work, only to be replaced by similar cars for the next three days... that is not "imagination".

Was it amateurish? It was. They were following a lot of leads. I was on the botton end of priorities, but they prolly felt they needed to check up, just in case. So they assigned me to a new guy in a car they pulled from the "government fleet" and I just happened to leave my house ten minutes earlier than my 99% schedule. If I had left at the "usual" time he prolly would have been further down the street- or on an intersecting street - by then, having already familiarized himself with my address and route.

And he's not gonna report "Hey, I fucked up" to anyone, he's going to follow me like the plan says and keep his mouth shut, and so on for the next few days until they figure out that I am, as you say, harmless. But if they're willing to waste resources on such a low-probablity-lead, what does that say?

Well you claimed in your other post that they did a two car switch, then botched it by swapping in an identical car. I mean does that really sound slick to you? It makes the exchange pointless. Especially when they could have tracked you via GPS tracker.

Let's recap, you saw a guy acting strange in your neighbourhood and believe that he followed you over several days. Even if that was true you don't really KNOW it was the FBI, could be a security company hired by your company, maybe a coworker's hubby hired a PI?

You assume you were followed, assume he was government and then assume that it was the FBI. You know you argued Antimason into the ground in the ID thread about making facts fit the theory and yet you are doing it yourself here.

That's not what I claimed, or certainly not what I intended to claim. When I pulled out of my drive, the person in the car very hastily put down his coffee and what looked like a map, and followed me halfway to work. I noticed, looking in the rearview, that I could not see his face thru the windshield. Don't know about where you live, but in CA that's an illegal amount of tinting. Next time I looked in the rearview that particular car was gone, but there was another car behind me, ALSO with an illegally tinted windshield. And for the next two days, there was some sort of car behind me with very heavily tinted windshields. I have never seen that before, nor since.

BTW- I've been told that if a car follows you thru three or more turns, chances are you're being followed. And I never said it was one guy. Also, a wemaster WAS asked to give my personal information to the FBI- I read that post myself. And there was a very active investigation going on in our area- it was in the newspapers.

I trust the evidence of my senses.
