September 30. my 36th birthday. on my way from Canberra(Australia)to Heatherbrae(4hrs by bus + 3hrs by train)to see my folks. Stopped in Sydney to see Serenity. Bliss! An almost empty theatre coz everyone else was lining the streets to applaud some winning football team. saw movie, left bawling my eyes out...running 2km in less than 15 minutes getting luggage out of storage, charging thru train station, nearly missing train, still crying on the train coz I hadn't had time to process. old lady on train asks me if I'm ok...I say I'm upset coz a friend died..

*sniffles* truely a great friend and pilot passed during that movie... don't that sound strange? What other movie could make you feel as if a close friend had died when one of the characters died??

Yeah,sad about Wash and Book both (and the little "dirt nap" kid, I get crushed when kids die in any context).I think I was crying for Zoe too. even though you know it's just fiction you are so invested in the story and the characters, it feels real. Their world, barren and scary as it is would be my ideal.

It still hurts. After watching it over and over and over again it never gets easier. Not sure how Joss makes it stay so fresh.

I saw Serenity at the first test screening. It truly felt like I was attacked. It was painful. After waiting for so long to see this movie. I remember knowing Joss would do something to upset me because that is how Joss works. It was powerful. Just like a friend dying.

The first time I saw it was at one of the pre-screenings. I didn't really see the last part of the movie as I just couldn't process Wash's death. I was in a daze for the next few hours.

First saw Serenity with friends at home. at the end, I felt happy that some of the BDH made it, but also had a hollow feeling also like a part of me was taken away. My poor eccentric Wash! *ahem* Just hurts to remember.

so glad it was a global grief, and not just me...ironically second time I saw it with some friends who had previously scoffed at my Firefly thing. they started watching it coz they wanted to have that connection with the characters, and understand the grief. they also liked the language and the humour

Today was the first time I saw Serenity. I knew that Joss Whedon isn't scared to kill main characters to have a reaction from the audience after watching the last episodes of Buffy and Angel but I must admit that I got shocked when Wash died. I cried when Book died... like some of you said, it was like losing an old friend, it had a great emotional impact. But, Wash death was so violent and fast, it reminds me of the death of a character in the last episode of Buffy (I don't want to spoil anything). They talk about it a little and then go back to their business. The others should have cried a little, show that it had an impact. It was my favorite character in the series. Without the death of Wash, I found the movie excellent, true to the series.

1st time I saw Serenity was in the US when I went there for a holiday and saw it before I would have been if I were in the UK since I went on holiday the same week Serenity was released in the UK.

First saw it with my dad at the theater the weekend after it came out (first weekends for movies are MURDER cuz the theater's so packed), we laughed, we cried, well, I cried, at Wash's death :'(. But it was very refreshing and very all out awesome. I remember it as being one of the best movies I'd seen in a long while.
