Please humour me I need to whine about some stuff:why do we get everything so late in Australia? I mean we got Firefly two years after it got cancelled.
which is tragic coz alot of Australians love it. And we haven't even got the collectors version of Serenity. and we don't get those amazing cons like you do in the US and UK..aaghr! I just need to get rich and migrate. okay thanks for letting me rant i'm going back to my studies now...if anyone can explain the difference between Entailment and Presupposition I'd be forever greatful.

Wish I had answers for ya, mate. As for Cons, they don't just start out fantastic, they usually start pretty insignificant, and then grow as the years go by. No need to migrate anywhere, you've got it better than most. Whether you know it or not!

You can't stop the signal.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Hmmm well entailment is used to describe a relationship between 2 propositons.

Presupposition is an assumption.

But I am sure you knew that.

I think I needed something to whine about yesterday...i agree we do have it pretty good here compared to most places: lots of freedom, mateship, beautiful nature infested places to go to, reasonable weather, a national free health system set up to look after the sick and the elderly. Joss Whedon has been out here a few times, gotta love that.

Re presupposition and entailment. Thanks I did know that. I guess I wanted some magical response that would clarify the definition. my Semantics lecturer has confused me to the point of fluffiness. But ta anyway

I agree too Boris. Australia does have it pretty good here compared to most places: Like our deadly spiders & snakes for example, our morally inclined Prime Minister, Kath & Kim, flies, our generous immigration system, Yahoo Serious and of coarse... Vegemite...

Your not the only one whom feels the need to whine as it turns out.

Don't get me started on our prime minister...another world leader referred to him as a Battler!!!...A creator of battlers is more apt. then again I was in India last year and their situation makes me appreciate ours a little more. Hate vegemite blegh! the next person who says "look at Muoi" to me is gonna be sorry.I do like the spiders and the snakes though. have a rather large huntsman lurking about in my room.

Oh hello - is it OK for me to chime in? I am Aussie but at this moment in time I am in RiverIsMyGodesses home in Georgia, USA... mind you for all the wonder of D*C and the amazing everything that the USA has to offer I have to say I miss the Australian things... (Kath and Kim - I did gigglesnort at that one... "Look at moi! Look at moi!")

Come and join the 76th - I marched with them at Dragon Con on Saturday - the first Australian to do so - and I am now officially the Commanding Officer of the Australian company and I need recruits!!!

Also we do get some things straight away and some things months or years later... Battle Star Galactica and West Wing being two notable members of the latter list! (Oh I cannot wait to see Mark Sheppard as Romo Lampkin having flirted with him at D*C last weekend!!)

PM me if you want to know more about the 76th, check out some of the threads here that are post D*C (with pics) or check out the thread about the 76th - there's going to be more and more of us and we'll have shindigs folks!!

I also have plenty of friends on Serenity Oz - but this is my home!

Don't get her started. Oops, too late.

(Fellow 76th here)

If it makes you feel better, those of us in the US don't always know about stuff just because we've got it.
Par examplar:
Firefly and Serenity. I do not have a tv (per se). I did not discover Jossy goodness until May 2006 when we rented the movie.

I am a nurse, do not get me started on insurance companies and our healthcare system's shortcomings. Sigh.

Besides, you've got Magda and Nico and...
