UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - United Nations officials found vials of dangerous chemicals, which had been removed from Iraq a decade ago, in a U.N. building in New York, but U.N. officials said on Thursday there was no danger.

The FBI was called in to help remove the substances.

The material was phosgene, a chemical warfare agent, U.N. spokeswoman Marie Okabe told a news conference.

The inspections unit said in a statement that the chemicals had been found last Friday.

The Iraqi weapons inspectors came across the material as they were closing their offices, which are housed in a building near the U.N. headquarters in Manhattan, said Ewen Buchanan, a spokesman for the inspectors.

Phosgene was used extensively during World War I as a choking agent, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control.

Well. There you have it. All those years it was the UN and they were not only helping Iraq hide its weapons, they were illigally transporting them to the United States to be used in a terrorist attack.

Good thing we deposed Saddam when we did or this evil plot may have made 9/11 look like nothing. I think we need to order a full and complete inspection of the UN and its offices in New York City. And if they don't want cooperate we can find some way to make them do what we want. Perhaps towing all their illigally parked vehicles would be a start. And imagine what somebody like Donald Trump could do with the prime real estate the UN is sitting on...

I would point out the obvious that what they found was material confiscated from Iraq by the UN over a decade ago but since you didn't notice that in the text you quoted I think it unlikely you'll be able to see it here.

I wonder what the medical name for the condition in which a person is unable to see the plain truth even when it's right before his eyes is?
