FireFly fans sountrack Cd???

this may sound likea dumb idea p'raps buuut... maybe this could raise money for the fund -

a lot of people make fan films - these films must have music...

1) has anyone thought of collecting them onto CD?
i would buy it!
(it would help me conjure the 'verse when i'm writing for one thing!)

2) such a cd could also include performances of songs from the Fliks area (a lot of fans seem good with lyrics, i'm guessing some atleast are musicians - probably on youtube and myspace).

finally -
3) why not include audio readings of stories (or extracts) from the fic section - maybe we could get a cast member?!?1 (i realise there maybe licensce issues with fic - but that would not be the case with ideas 1 and 2 if labelling avoided copyright infringement)

A Cd such as that could be ordered through the site - and/or sold at conventions {and i apologise if such a thing already exists!) or as a paid download... and could involve more than one F.F. website or bunch of fans..

again, maybe i'm daydreaming here but -
thoughts?

This CD idea could be something that existing fans would enjoy, but how is it a guerilla marketing idea?

For the most part, only existing fans enjoy fanfic or soundtracks relating to a show they know. New people would not be expected to want a CD of fan created material for a show they know nothing about.

And if we fans are going to put time and energy into convincing new people to buy a CD, or a DVD, then it makes much more sense to persuade them to purchase the offical products. These purchases will count toward profits for the studio and a little more convincing to continue the 'Verse.

Also, selling a CD of material related to FF/S might possibly leave people open to unwanted attention from the copyright lawyers... and that ain't fun... at all.
