Vump from a Xenite.
You guys are clear to go, there is no current push or even talk about the tv-vote site in the Xena world. We are quite happy to be first in the Hall of Fame, first to 350k, and largest single day total to date. Remember, Xenites have been voting off and on since Angel was the leader at 13k votes. Xenite fans who were fans of other shows, brought the tv-vote site to those communities attention. Before Xena, the site owner was thinking of closing the poll totally due to lack of traffic.
Xenites, in general, have voted for a bunch of shows, Firefly included. We voted for shows we thought were well deserved to be in the top 40. We generated all of our votes off of just 3 email lists, never teaming up with other fandoms to pump our vote.
We slacked off many times....There were pushes for 50k and 100k. Much later, after a slowdown, there was the push to 200k and Hall of Fame, then 300k. Then we had a last push for 3k+ votes on the birthday of Lucy Lawless. (We failed though, only achieving 2803, 444 more than Firefly has achieved in one day.)
It's tough keeping a community focused on voting for something after you have a huge lead, but each time we were asked, we responded. Now, its time for another fan base to take the lead. I'm glad it's Firefly.....After all, Gina Torres guested on Xena long before Firefly....:)
Just remember, without even trying we are putting up 500-600 votes a day. I don't think there has been a mention of tv-vote in months in the Xena world. We're all too busy trying to get tickets for Lucy in concert!
While its nice that a show as good as Firefly will be the one to pass us, its a little disheartening to see comments like "Stupid Xena still has us beaten by 6,000 votes". You need to remember that all fan bases for any show are special in their own way.
Firefly fans were able to take a show that was basically poisoned by its network and convince studio head to make a 30 million dollar movie on a canceled show that didn't even complete a season.
Xena was a campy syndicated show that pulled amazing numbers for a non-network show. While campy in style, characters were richly drawn and well written. The relationship between Xena and Gabrielle helped many young women realize who they were deep down. The success of Xena helped pave the way for female action leads in television.
Bonanza fans have shown how a show long gone can perform well on the top 40.
Other shows on the list are special in their own way. Babylon 5, for bringing multi-seasonal story arcs, Farscape for showing cable shows belong on the list. Highway to Heaven, a fan base tribute to their favorite actor, and so on.
All shows have their merit, and their fans. Insulting a fan base, no matter how trivial is doing nothing but commenting on any fan base.....including your own.
So, vump away!

I'm gonna show you a little trick that mom showed me when you weren't around. It was for special events just like this. Oh yeah, one more thing...I'm glad you changed your last name, you son of a bitch!

Thanks for the update; and thanks for your support!
I've been voting up Lucy on her performance in BSG here:
http://www.syfyportal.com/genre-awards/2007/
while hitting up the firefly related items on the same poll.
One of the cool things about about the top40 poll is it can get you looking at series you might not otherwise. One outcome from this is I followed a link a Xenite provided to some on-line episodes of Xena, and truth be told I was impressed with the show. As you say, it is campy; but it was intended to be. Once you get past that (at least, I generally don't go for campy myself in most cases), it really is a well done show in many ways.
