Does anyone read or watch The Dresden Files?

They took out Mister???? Okay, I'm officially depressed. How dare they! 
I'm guessing they'll bring Thomas into the picture in the next season. He's too important a character to leave out.
And sadly, I'll have to agree about Laurell K. Hamilton. I'm still a fan and all (next book comes out on June 5th), but the quality has gone down hill since Obsidian Butterfly. Then again, that could just be my bias since I'm a huge Edward fan.

I've been a big fan of the books from the get-go. They're fast-paced, full of humor, internally consistent, provide plenty of plot twists, and involve everything from faerie kingdoms to shooting porn movies. Every time a new one comes out I have to go back and read the series again just to make sure I know who all the players are and what side they're on now. This usually doesn't take to long, because once I pick one up, I'm reading full time until I finish.
If you like Dresden, you might try Butcher's Codex Alera series, which is kind of Dresden in reverse, with a hero who has no powers in a world where everyone else does.
As others have said, the TV show is best viewed as an 'alternate world' from the books. I'm not so bothered by some of the changes because they're needed for a visual medium - Bob as something other than a talking skull, an office so there's some place for Harry to meet clients and carry on exposition, stuff like that.
I get hints of Harry's antipathy for electricity in things like his older, non-computer, jeep (though the Blue Beetle would be better), and his use of a rotory phone. Maybe they'll get into that more later. I guess explaining all his quirks at once would just take too much time, but I'm hoping they'll work it in.

I have yet to read any of the books but this show is BRILLIANT!!! Not Firefly brilliant, but still incredibly well done. This is one of those shows where I would obsesse over it and it would get cancelled, if it weren't on SciFi!!! Thanks SciFi

On the one hand, I do kinda wish they'd explained the electricity thing right up front, but on the other hand, it did make for a cool "retroactive appreciation" moment!
In the fourth episode, "Rules of Engagement," Harry stands near the surveillance camera in the interrogation room, and the monitor on Murphy's desk turns to static. I assumed it was something magical Harry did intentionally.
In the sixth episode, "Soul Beneficiary," Bob says to Harry, "...every time you get near an electrical appliance, it shorts out..."
I went, "Ohhhh, so that's what that was!"
Now that you mention the Jeep and the rotary phone, it all makes sense!
(But I don't recall any other gadgets besides the surveillance camera shorting out.)

I watched the Dresden Files and read the books
pretty much simultaneously.
Loved 'em both.
The mix of mystery and sf/fantasy is great fun for someone like me who is a fan of both genres.
In fact, I loved the books enough to have to buy my own copies, the ultimate compliment, and have
been recommending them to folks, too.

White Night is the only one I haven't read. It was so much easier when I worked at Waldenbooks, I got stuff at a great discount as soon as it came out- hard back or not. Can't afford hardbacks now.
Since they haven't included mister on the series, I'm hoping maybe they'll include the dog!
