Dtop, it was not Haken. He has been dead for a year. It was some alliance type mod(you know who) thinking they are funny. Again, I don't care, but can I at least get someone to comment on the bigger picture...I think for anyone to modify someones personal data on an open forum is bullshit....Surely, I can't be alone in thinking this.

Most people try to keep up at least a little semblance of addressing a topic. On top of that, a number of people were fed up enough to PM and ask that Kaneman be banned. I got banned for using multiple accounts to create many personalities, which I used to be a total and complete pain in the ass on this board. I was rude, insulting, and very unpleasant to interact with. I began to harass all the new members who joined. I bad mouthed all the moderators and the admin, so I guess the end result was a banning which took me by surprise because i heard no one ever got banned from Firefly.net.

The bannage was so complete that I could not access the site from any computer in the company, nor from my network at home. I could access Firefly.net from coffee houses with Wi-fi setups, but I dared not even think about logging on because I figured if Halkan took the time and trouble to ban me from my work and home, he'll ban any IP address that I would use; at that point I realized I had over stepped the bounds and had gone way past the red line. Knowing this, for a while I just came to the site and read all of the stuff you guys wrote, but later on I figured I could go through a proxy server where I figured I could post and make an apology blog (which I did) in an attempt to right the situation. I guess it must have worked because here I am.

Kicking up trouble is fun, but in the end, it's not worth the fallout. You end up having everyone disgusted with you, and people stop taking you seriously, and also whenever they see your name they don't even bother reading what you post, and also you are called a "Troll" and being called that is no fun at all.

Live and learn I suppose...

I don't know. Maybe the idea that I was annoying someone else gave me a feeling of power and control. In hindsight I realize that If I stooped to engaging in childish acts like this, then this is why I don't have very many friends. An immature state of mind is a complete turn off for most people. I think I came on this board and started acting out; totally stupid, but I don't have that frame of mind anymore. I rather enjoy the conversations here and get along with everyone.

I never knew Kaneman was a woman. After all this time I thought I was talking to a guy! Wow, I guess you never know who you are talking to on the internet.

I don't feel sorry for him/her. Kaneman is getting her kicks and the owners of this board is allowing it. All of you (including myself) are responding to her posts, therefore keeping this thing going, so if anyone is to blame it's us I suspect, but no one is perfect so have at it.

Yeah... I'm fairly sure Kaneman is a guy. He pretended to be a woman during the whole other accounts/other identities thing. It was his way of messing with people. Pretty sure he's a guy.

Regarding the tag thing, I find it maybe a little disturbing to display the IP address. I have no idea how easy it is to track these things, so maybe it's not a big deal, but internet privacy seems like it shouldn't be messed with. Ever.

But tagging him/her as offensive is fine by me. How many times has Kaneman jumped into a newbie thread with a pointless and cruel post? At least this way they know not to take the attack seriously, and hopefully won't think we're all jerks.

Sorry, Kaneman. I can't feel outraged for you. You asked for it.

Mal4prez, how do you know that Kaneman's female? I know it says so in his/her profile, but that doesn't mean it's so. I'm not claiming Kaneman's a guy, just want to know why you're so certain.

Now see, that kind of thing is just like s/he opened the book titled: What Can One Say to Piss People Off. It's not real original. Total cookie cutter boorishness. I'm surprised so many people get irked by the crap Kaneman says - it's such a predictable beg for attention.

I guess the gender doesn't matter. The face that Kaneman shows here isn't really human, it's an act. I don't mean that as an insult, I just have no doubt that Kaneman is acting out some alternate personality here. It could be a woman getting a thrill out of playing an offensive man and getting us all to react to that. Clearly, s/he is all about getting reaction, and keeping us confused.

Not exactly, that's fairly easy to do. It's also fairly easy to log IPs if you so desire on a forum. The server will know the IP that the communication is comming from, most forums store this information. In fact the one I administer does, we don't release that information, though it's absolutly vital for banning 'repeat offenders'.

It's not that damaging though, all you'll get is Kaneman's ISP info (Comcast Cable in this case). You can go further than that, and get the city it's probably licenced too, but for any actual details of KM you'd need a court order, and Comcast's cooperation.
