haha- good one! Wouldn't even need one to show up, could just have a reference or something. Like River wants to bring a frog onboard for a pet or something and Mal says no- "that'll only bring unpleasentness. ugh, foul creatures, frogs. besides, remember last time? that gorram fox 'bout destroyed the ship." I also second the "we NEED the big red button" thing. Browncoat1. if that was the beginning... no words. that'd be just so very, very cool.

Then there's the obvious of Jayne being scared of River around knives.

Also rolling around in my brain is if someone calls Wash on the fact that he always hits the same 3 switches for everything.

Also, "master of the 'verse" statements can be thrown around w/out disturbing newbies too much.

I have nothing specific to offer (except maybe the phrase "tight pants" in a non-Mal context), but it puts me in mind of one of my favorite sayings:
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary.
For those who do not, no explanation will do.

Book saying "well, isn't that...special" in regards to just about anything.

While on a "job": Mal having dinner at a fine dining establishment with Inarra and being asked by the waiter if he'd like the special of the day - glazed duck garnished with saffron. Mal chokes and spits water all over the waiter.

Jayne, Simon, and River sitting in a waiting room full of people. An employee comes out and calls the next person to be helped as "Jane". Five women and Jayne stand up. Simon & River glance at Jayne then look at each other and just smile...

Any reference to someone or something having "smallish droppings".

Burn the land, boil the sea...

"It would be great to see the big red button somewhere. Maybe Wash could hit it at the beginning of the movie and say something like "Message received"."

I can just imagine now the crowd at the theatre erupting in cheers. And some people going "WTF?!!!" This is great.

That is assuming that Alan T. didn't lose it.

But one thing that worries me is my memories of the '96 tv movie of Doctor Who, where they played to the core fans SO much that they lost everyone else. From that point, I'd settle for no inside jokes to have more good Firefly.

There is another answer. Worried about the only the core fans getting the movie? All we need to do is convert everyone and then there isn't a problem any longer.

I want to see a Battle Star Galactica ship make a cameo in our movie this time.

He didn't, he gave it back to Joss. I guess that's a bit of trivia you have to listen to all the commentary for.

God,that nearly made me spit Pepsi all over the screen!

Perhaps someone trying to hire Jayne from Mal by offering him a bigger room and, like 11% of the take.

The audience -and Wash- coming in on the very end of a funny sick person story by Simon.

I really, really want to see a geisha doll with a big head that wobbles somewhere.

"Jayne is a girl's name."
