When Mai finally gets her helmet off, she notices the unconscious Yeti next to her, and the bawling Yeti baby in the creature's arms.

SR listens intently to Me's proposal. It makes enough sense that he is willing to give it a shot. He looks over most of Femalereaver's time triggered sabotage and figures that there is one factor in that can be if not overidden at least delayed, time. He suggests that they glitch the nav computer to slow down its internal clock so that they remain in hyperspace aproximately 15 more minutes longer than originally need to complete the trip. This will cause them to arrive in the same planetary system yet not neccessarily at peril's front door, this may also give them enough time to allow the jump engines to recharge without the need of out in out combat. SR does admit that this also could place the Tree smack dab in the center of a asteriod field or the crushing depths of a gas giant, but what is life without adventure?
OOC: lost internet for a couple of days. Looks like I haven't missed much.

So, it seems that shortly after dropping out of hyperspace at our destination, ship defenses and engines would be shorted out, after docking with a Reaver-filled planetoid. This could not be allowed to happen, especially since the crew of Sereni-Tree has been under pretty constant peril for the last six or eight threads, ever since the time of the Second Gala Pageant. The war between the Immortals and the Octagonal Order, Mai-quest3, the return of FemaleReaver… Too much peril! Some breathing time is essential.
He brings in ScorpionRegent, Jet, Wisp, TheGreyJedi (if he is still around) and anyone else who has demonstrated significant technical expertise. Various options and ideas are discussed (and please do so in succeeding posts!).
TheRealMe spends a lot of time on the bridge, working at a console there, modeling possible outcomes and attempting to undo FemaleReaver’s sabotage, with only partial success.
Suddenly, TheRealMe smiles, and glances up. “Ah ha! I got it! The damage from the sabotage only occurs AFTER we drop out of hyperspace! Hmmm… Well, without Static, Ath, or Bride5 available, I suppose that we don’t have a dedicated pilot.” TheRealMe climbs up from the bridge level into the pilot dome and squeezes himself into the cockpit. All around him is an unobstructed view of the raw, swirling, mind-bending un-reality that is hyperspace. He tries not to look at it. He touches a few controls on the pilot’s console and many displays come to life. He activates communications. Then he grabs the control grips on either side of the chair.
“Bride4? This is Me. Are you still in Engineering?”
“Jet here. Yes, I am.”
“I’d like to bring the main maneuver drive online. Push it up to maximum thrust. That’s what, 20, 30 gees?”
Jet sounds dubious. “But we’re still in hyperspace. That won’t change our course or anything. It can only impart a velocity to the ship with respect to normal space.”
“Yes. And so, if we run the maneuver drive now for a day or so, when we finally do drop back into normal space…”
“We’ll appear, from nowhere, with our velocity conserved. Suddenly, the ship will be moving at a hell of a clip. Even if those engines are disabled at drop-out. Smart.”
“Right. If anyone is waiting for us, maybe we’ll be too fast to be caught. Also, just before we drop out of hyperspace, I plan to kill the engines and activate the ship’s S.E.P device that Jadehand installed long ago. It is not in the original blueprints. I traced some control lines and couldn’t find a problem. I think that FemaleReaver missed it.”
Jet ponders this. “So we’ll drop out of hyperspace and instantly shoot off in some direction, with no engine output to track, AND covered by a Somebody Else’s Problem field? Nobody could stop us, and probably nobody would even see us. There’s a problem, though. If we drop out and our velocity vector just happens to be pointing toward any sizeable object, like say a planet, we’ll be squashed.”
TheRealMe shrugs. “True. I think that is a small chance.”
Jet does not respond.
TheRealMe continues. “But that will probably give us the time we need to get us ready for another Jump, possibly including undoing sabotage and repairing any damage that occurs. Then we can go somewhere of OUR choosing.”
“Course?”
He scratches his chin. “Hmmm… I don’t know. Maybe back to Zanzibar. ScorpionRegent had something he wanted to do there. Or maybe we can go back to Earth-That-Still-Is. We’re coming up on our third anniversary near the end of May, and it’s traditional to go home and have a party.” He sighs wistfully. “I could stand to relax among dandelions, again. But first things first! We have to get the Jump Drive operational. We might need replacement parts. We might need somebody to head off in our shuttles to get these parts.”
Jet seems incredulous. [NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME

Oh No! Come here little guy, poor baby SimonYeti. It's ok.
*picks up the baby and gets on the comm link
"Simon, I realize your probably a little busy at the moment, but we've got an unconscious Yeti in the passageway. Think you could get down here and have a look? "
