Thanks to everyone who replied.

One of them mentioned it today, that he forgot to bring it even though he knew he would see me today. They're not the 'sharing' types, so I wouldn't've expected them to pass it on even if they had decided to keep it.

I never really expected all this. I figured if anyone replied at all it would be tell how ashamed I should be. I think I might need it so I don't do something that stupid again!

As for the incident with their son years ago, he was 10 or under at the time. I was around 14, really shy and a huge pushover. I felt bad that he might feel bad and I wanted to be seen as "nice". Confronting anyone about it was beyond my capabilities at the time. I only brought it up here because it's a pattern I've noticed over the years.

I hope the FollowMal attitude resonates with you. Chalk it up to recruiting! Of course, that's a bit easier if your finances aren't stretched too far.

I thought I'd chime in since I loaned out my only dvd set some time ago. Actually, the reason I started posting on this board instead of just lurking, was that I was having Firefly withdrawal symtoms after I loaned my set to my next door neighbor. Interacting with people on this board helped some. When I couldn't stand it anymore, I downloaded a couple of episodes from iTunes. Then I found the dvd set at Target for $17.99. Purchased it of course. Well, yesterday my neighbor said that he was done with it, and that he loved it. I asked him if he knew anybody who he thought might also enjoy it. He said yes. So I told him to lend it to them. Kind of like a "pass it foward" type of thing. I'm hoping it goes very far.

Well, if they don't return it and it has been a few weeks, that is when they find you on their doorstep to pick it up.

I personally have no issue loaning dvds, especially if I am spreading the word, but if it is someone I know procrastinates in returning them I will take the time to go and retrieve it.

No Way were you being stupid!! You loaned to family, we treat family different, but this also means you can go over there, walk up to where you think it is and start looking for it. If anyone ask what your looking for, say the DVD I loaned you, cause I have somebody else who needs to see it. Just because YOU are the somebody who needs to see it, doesn't mean you have to tell them that. I also have two sets, I can't be with out them for long. Remember "to forgive is divine".

Grizwald did have a good idea...however I don't think they'd fall for it in this lifetime.

If it's not returned by next week, I'll go to their house and pick it up I guess.

Part of me kind of wants to let them keep it and consider it guerilla marketing, as someone else suggested I think. I don't know. They (my family members) know way more people than I do (I'm more of a loner) so I wish they were the types to pass it on, but they just don't see any movies or tv as anything BUT entertainment...nothing that should be thought much about after it's over. They don't see it as a form of art, like I do (at least in Joss's case).

I've even tried to get my mother and sister interested in it. They pretty much view tv in the same way, though. They've enjoyed BUFFY, and eventually liked ANGEL (with some prodding--they were bored with Season 1's stand-alones, but by Season's 3 & 4, their eyes and ears were glued to the screen). But still, they never "got" them the way I did. With FIREFLY, they barely paid attention. My mother, who grew up watching westerns with her father--I always found them boring!!!

So, you see what I have to work with, family-wise.

I have the same problem with certain people in my family.

I'll loan them something and they'll say
"No you didn't, I don't have it."

So now I make them sign A piece of paper saying
they have it, and will return it in A timly fashon.

I'm having A little trouble converting my family,
but I'll do it eventually.
