It seems to me that he's assuming that Iranians are religious nut-jobs. Prejudicial because it "pre-judges" Iranian reaction. AFA being "below the belt" or "distasteful"- that depends very much on your audience. Geezer's comments about Iranians aren't distateful to this audience. But I know some Persians.... nice folks, moderate in their religion, professionals, good family people, one son is my daughter's boyfriend ... who would be highly offended. In other words, you and Geezer share a common prejudice which makes this thread not "distasteful".

Actually, I'm just expanding, in a satirical manner, on previously demonstrated characteristics of the Iranian government and religious hierarchy. Satire is an ancient and well-respected form of political and social commentary in Western civilization. When you denegrate satire, you denegrate Western Civilization. I should be upset.

I always appreciate your input, but I find Rue's posts often very tangential, distracting, and about as straightforward as winding mountain road. I often think there are two Rues. One who is not knee jerk reacting and who speaks cogently and is effective in their persuasiveness. A second who feels the need to be contrary and mean spirited just because they disagree with someone.
I've been on the receiving end of both Rues and find the former enjoyable if trying while the latter distastful and annoying.
I think Rue's conduct in this thread has unfortunately been more of the former and not so much of the latter.
