Finn: This is really an ingenious thread concept. Why the hell didn’t I think of it?

Finn: I don’t know, but don’t tell Chris that, because it’ll go to his head. It is pretty cool though. Like the random thread from darkangeltv board.

Finn: Ha, I loved that thread. That totally made darkangeltv.

Finn: Yeah. What the hell ever happened to that board?

Finn: It’s gone, dude.

Finn: Dude, that sucks.

Finn: I was on another board a few years ago, where they had a random thread, but it wasn’t as good, because they were assholes.

Finn: Speaking of assholes, my cat is only sociable when it’s starving. What’s up with that?

Finn: Yeah, your cat sucks. Its damn hair is all over my suits. It’s got 5 inch long hairs. What kind of cat has 5 inch long hairs?

Finn: Maybe you should vacuum more?

Finn: Vacuum what? Those damn hairs are viral microfilments that borrow into every fabric until they become one with the fabric and eventually consume it. I’m not even sure that we should be talking about this, because if those hairs hear us, we’ll both end up like an X-file.

Finn: Yeah, my cat sucks.

Finn: You should grease it down so that the hairs don’t fly off everywhere.

Finn: And when it walks too close to the fireplace it will combust like Magnesium.

Finn: Wicked.

Chrisisall:
Why doesn't Finn write for Conan O'Brian? Then Conan would be consistantly funny.

Chrisisall:
Sucking up doesn't suit you.

Chrisisall:
!!! That last post of his had me in tears...combusting cat...LOL...

Chrisisall:
You're just saying that 'cause he owes you money or something.

Chrisisall:
What? I'm only nice to get something out of someone? That's-

Chrisisall:
You have an inferiority complex; you think everyone's better than you.

Chrisisall:
No, we're all as good as each other!
I'm just smarter than most.

Chrisisall:
Pardon- a superiority complex. Truth is, you're as clumbsy as you are stupid. You came out of light speed too close to the system-

Chrisisall:
UH-HUH! Fall back to Star Wars quotes when you're at a loss for facts...you're SO transparant!

Chrisisall:
It's "transparEnt", Braniac.
Most intelligent people know this-

Chrisisall:
Now Remo Williams quotes?!?!
This is why I watch so many movies and TV shows; if I had to listen to YOU all day, I'd go NUTS!!!

Chrisisall:
You DO listen to me all day.

Chrisisall:
That explains it......

What is the nature of introspection? If my mind is nothing over and above my brain state, how can my mind turn inward upon itself? But on the other hand, if my mind were something other than my brain state, something non-physical, how could it possibly interact causally with the physical?

But wait a sec, just because we can't say how something works doesn't mean that it doesn't. The mere fact that it's hard to figure out how non-physical stuff interacts with physical stuff doesn't entail that there is no non-physical stuff. That's just crap logic. Heck, even if it's impossible to figure out how it works, it still would not entail the non-existence of a non-physical mind.

On the other hand, let's not go around multiplying entities. Let's use inference to the best explanation and the Principle of Parsimony. What's the better, simpler explanation? That the mind is merely the brain state, or that the mind is some non-physical thing interacting with the brain by some unexplainable causal process? It would certainly seem that the former fits IBE and the Principle of Parsimony better.

But on the other other hand, How can a mere collection of cells, no matter how complex, give rise to consciousness? The experience of pain qua pain seems to argue against the reductionist view of the mind--after all, why do we call it pain and say we have an experience of it as opposed to having some mental operation like "The pain receptors in your arm are being activated"?

Man, you think about some wierd stuff.

Oh yeah? Why do you keep using, "let's," "we," and "us?"

I really need to remember to ask Geezer why he said not all non-liberals watch Fox and read Ann Coulter. Doesn't he know that if we don't live up to our stereotypes we don't have crap to fling at each other and would then have to enter into boring discussions about actual policies!?

Have to also remember to hug my tree today. I forgot yesterday and it looked really depressed this morning.

Perhaps words are how the mind turns to inspect itself. Because words objectify the internal - make it so we can look at it. That would certainly obviate the need for the 'non-material' interactign with the material. I need to think about that more. In words.

Chrisisall:
Big words and high concepts float around on this thread. I'm above most of it.
Thought there, done that.
Existentialism bores me. I think I'll watch Conan: The Barbarian tonight.

Chrisisall:
Yes, very "high-brow", Superiority-Man. That which does not bore us, makes us stronger, eh?

Chrisisall:
!!!The Riddle Of Steel was deep, you moron!!!! You don't see the martial and spiritual signifigance?

Chrisisall:
I did see Sandal Bergman's breasts...

Chrisisall:
@#**@!!

I'm rather offended by this, I've been diagnosed with schizophrenia myself and I can assure you it has NOTHING to do with multiple personalities, it's a more severe case of High Anxiety and mental disorder and I've been struggling with it for years. I know you meant no offence Chris and most times I'm delighted with your threads but this one rubs me wrong. People may read my post and say I'm over reacting but if you had even a small sample of what I go through everyday you'd understand it's not a joking matter. I take meds everyday and even then sometimes I live in a private nightmare. I'm sorry to take the fun out of this, but I felt the need to clear things up.

I appreciate that Rue, I know this was meant as a little tongue and cheek but mental disorders are as terrible as physical disorders, more so because at the moment there's really nothing anyone can do but take medicines that you hope will lessen the illness and not give you any terrible side effects. Schizophrenia can lead people into bad things, the worst of which I almost did years ago before I got help. If I didn't have my art..... well let's just say I wouldn't be here making this post. I just ask that people keep that in mind when they make posts like these.
