My opinions...
Star Trek Insurrection - It did indeed suck. Not as much as Nemesis or Generations, though.
Red Dawn - I liked it.
Starship Troopers - Abominable butchering of the novel. What happened to the mobile infantry? Where are my cool armor suits? Why, Lord, why?!

The thing that killed me was that the book had some pretty scathing things to say about out modern political and military systems--and yet none of those messages came through in the film. The "message" of the film (which did, indeed, seem to be "war bad") is actually discussed and dismissed in the book. In one scene (occurring in a high school classroom) a student says basically that war is bad, because violence never solved anything. The reply was that violence actually has solved many things (to wit: the Holocaust). And then the instructor gives my absolute favorite line: “War is not violence and killing, pure and simple; war is controlled violence, for a purpose. The purpose of war is to support your government’s decisions by force.”
So yeah, what a crap movie.
