suprisingly enough I haven't been able to find a translation for 'I love you' into chinese.

ni ai wo ma = do you love me?


I think "ma" at the end of a sentence must signify questions, just like "dong ma".

Yes. That is correct. Putting ma at the end of the phrase makes it a yes or no question basically.
