...I mean, if you like where you live, that is....
I presently live in Western Massachusetts, but would like to live in a more cosmopolitan area. I grew up (teens and up) on Long Island, but the housing there is ridiculously expensive, not to mention the nightmare of traffic. Still, that city feel is missing here. I miss loud and direct...and museums.

So where do you live, and why should I move my family there?

Cosmopolitan? I don't think I can help you there, but I can offer this tidbit:

Quote:

The atmosphere in Old Town Fort Collins inspired Disneyland’s Main Street USA. In fact, Disney’s City Hall, bank and other buildings are near replicas of the structures found in downtown Fort Collins.

Plus, no real threat of tornadoes or hurricanes (or anything like those), and the mountains are beautiful. And, the college kids aren't so bad, and crime is relatively low.

Also, Frommer's named Fort Collins the fifth best place to raise a family.

We're kind of far from Massachusetts, but... ::shrugs::

Chrisis, try this site: http://findyourspot.com . It's fun. You answer questions about your perfect location and then they give you a list of matches. One of my friends is actually building a house where they told her she would like to live. So far they were right.

I bet it doesn't have "close proximity to other Browncoats" on there, though.

Can I talk you into moving nearby, as opposed to where I am? I'm in Stephenville, Texas, an hour southwest of Ft. Worth. Not the best, but the job I have isn't bad. If I could move the family I'd take them three hours down the road to San Marcos. It's around an hour from San Antonio, according to National Georaphic the fastest growing city in America, and an hour from Austin, the Live Music Capital of the World, and home to a goodly number of Browncoats. The weather is superb, and the cost of living is much lower than Mass. Besides, Summer's from S.A. and you never know when you'll run into her.

That's my vote, good luck. Make sure you let us know what you decide.

Grizwald - Sure we are - but, who knows? What if meeting new friends vs. connecting with more well-known friends would cut down on the number of options?

Atlanta! It's got low cost housing, great schools, nice climate, and it's very cosmopolitan...same could be said of Houston:)
