What is the reality of a firefly rally at the doors of fox studios?

What kind of numbers do we have?

My theory is the Fox execs can't read so they have no idea how well firefly/serenity are doing in DVD sales and the support we have on the net.

Something loud and visual could catch the attention of these people.

Why?

How many Rallies have there ever been for a TV show?
None...? Exactly! we show how serious we are about the project and show them first hand what kind of loyalty and success this show can build given time and support.

Media Exposure! "and in other news, Fans from cancelled TV series Firefly have rallied at Fox today, demanding a revival of the show" THIS IS NEWS WORTHY!! any TV coverage gets more people to the cause, more fans and a better chance for a trip back to the verse. This also adds pressure on fox and brings the show back to their attention!

Obviously...there will be many here who cannot attend (me included, being in australia) but dammit...ive looked at these marketing ideas for some time and I think this could be the most effective.

Even though I cannot attend I will be helping in anyway I can. I have an advanced Diploma in Marketing and Public Relations and have experience in organizing and helping with such events.

Please, Give this some thought and talk among yourselves.

Fox doesn't own Firefly anymore; they gave Joss the right to shop it elsewhere, which is how the movie got made. Fox certainly did not make the movie; that was Universal.
20th Century Fox, the production company, has the production rights. I don't know enough about what production companies do to know if appealing to them would get us anywhere.
Rallying might not be the way to go either way. We don't want to seem too insane. Won't change anything, and it might make them wonder what kind of fans they've catered to.

Maybe we can commandeer an antiwar protest for a little added bang. Have to change their signs though of course, but that would be fairly easy.

It is my opinion that the best bet for renewing the series it thru the Sci Fi channel who I believe bought the right to show the existing shows. It makes sense for them to expand the product that they are already distributing. Being on cable would give the show a little more wiggle room that the major networks can’t offer. Even if the nelson ratings are down, which I would doubt ‘cause I and I’m sure most if not all of you would pay for what ever package needed to get to see more Firefly, the sales of the seasons on DVD would sustain them alone. We are living in a bold new world where a series can not only be maintained but can actually be reborn or resurrected due to the sale of the show on DVD. I site 2 points: 1. Scrubs (canceled, shot the “Series Finally” at the end of last season) based on the sales of Seasons 1-4 they brought it back as a mid season replacement. 2. Family Guy a show that not only had horrid ratings, but also couldn’t give away advertising slots during the show because of how racy it was; canceled mid 3rd season and was brought back 3 years later based on the fact that it was the #1 selling TV on DVD in 2004 and 05. Dates might be off a little there, but the argument still stands on those presidents.
So I say the people to pester would be the heads at the SciFi Channel. Thank them for putting the shows on and ask for more. Let them know that we would all be willing to pay what ever we need to be able to see more seasons of FireFly. If we can build the buzz then they can go after Joss, and he doesn’t have to shop it all over anymore, we just gave him a buyer on a silver platter. (long winded I know sorry)

Actually,

I believe Fox still owns the TV rights, which is why the movie is called Serenity.

As for a rally outside the doors of Fox. Not sure that would work.

What would work is cleaning out the Fox boardroom and bringing in sentient human beings to take their places.

YES!! I agree with you FMF!

Just a thought...if not a rally, why not the largest gathering of browncoats we can muster that gets media attention by, say, attempting some kind of 'guinness world record' thingy, or a world's first...something, something...?

I applaude BRINGITBACK's enthusiasm, though...

"God grant me the Serenity...Pts 2 and 3 and....."

Artisoxygen - what a SHINY idea.

Imagine a Guiness Book of Records attempt taking place at a convention, with some of the BDH involved. Would that get some attention ?

The caper should involve a lot of Browncoats (to demonstrate our numbers) and be accomplished in a fairly short time (so it can be shown on TV news ).

When are you going to start organising ?

"I'm amazed you made it this far, and in that outfit."

Just wanted to say that I love the little graphic Phoenix Rose. Do you think if we did actually did it it could be traced to us?

Mal gives control of the ship to Zoe...
Mal: If I'm not back in an hour, you come, and you rescue me.
Zoe: What? And risk my ship?
