Although there could be some wisdom there. I mean a pearl starts life as a speck of sand caught in a clam, acting as an irritant, the clam grows a calcium surface over the sand particle, eventually creating a pearl.
So...
If you have any irritating problems if you just ignore them sooner or later they'll calcify and turn into an expensive pearl.
