Was 'The Puppet Show' episode inspired by the movie 'Magic' (1978)?

You know the similar kind of theme about a possessed ventriloquist dummy. If you haven't seen "Magic" then you should, it stars Anthony Hopkins.

Probably had as much influence as previous shows had on Magic. I can think of at least two others, one was a Twilight Zone and another was on Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, especially after this line...

There was a scene in Magic where Corky's agent asks him to put Fats away for awhile, and just talk to him like a normal person.
Of course, Corky only lasts about a minute before he has to pick Fats back up.
