weeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
This is SHINY news indeed! Though I have two things to say:
1) If we get a movie premiere party, continental US please, as I refuse to fly with all the gestapo style paranoid security (conceintious objection).
2) If someone picks up the series, I hope its not Sci-Fi as that means they don't have the budget like a major network and I can't get that channel where I live without digital cable, which won't let me record show (poor design).
Sorry for the run-on sentance, THIS IS THE SHINIEST!

Dave, I´m not sure, but I think O.B means Official Board.

I'm in MD and I'd definitely find my way down to Raleigh for Firefly's premier if Static can convince his friend to do it! That would be awesome.
I don't know if NBC would be a good channel for Firefly because if you look at their current programs, there are abosolutely ZERO sci-fi shows. I don't know about CBS working either because they already have so many shows that cost a lot: CSI, CSI:Miami, Joan of Arcadia, and others. Plus CBS seems to be taking the route of reality TV for their new series as well. They have Survivor and Star Search (the two I can come up with at the moment). The cable channel USA doesn't seem to run very many original series. They seem to buy series that have done well on the main 4 channels and show those in reruns constantly. I think SciFi would be the best although the point about their finances is valid.

Hey, Fireflywildcard--
Sorry to get off topic, but--is there a MD Browncoat group to your knowledge? If not, could we start one?

I'm sitting here asking questions about a premiere party and I forget my own history.
I'm good friends with a guy who OWNS a theatre. It's an old-style 'movie house' type theatre, with traditional architecture, but all the neccessary trappings for new movies, like Dolby Digital Surround Sound, or whatever the newest, greatest thing is.
He usually only shows Independant feature films, stuff like that. . .stuff that doesn't usually make it to the multiplexes. . .HOWEVER. . .
I'm fairly certain he could be convinced to make the investment into asking for a first-run copy of "Firefly".
The theatre is in Raleigh, NC. . .the capital city. It's near Downtown, near hotels, resturants and a large mall. I wonder what sort of response would be recieved from Browncoats wanting to host a massive premiere night gala there?

I'd love to go!!! I'm from NC too, so I'm right close to it.

This is
news YAY! Two questions:
1. Anyone know where/whom the quote is from? The link doesn't specify.
2. I have a theory (we should work this out): the "legal issues" referred to a couple of places are indeed regarding locking up movie cast members for a potential series return. What do y'all think? Reasonable? Wishful thinking? Both?

Yup. I know exactly where the quote originated.

Sorry about your being in "the special hell" right now. Don't you wish you'd had to sleep with an evil seductress to get there? ;)

Yes, the good ol' Rialto Theatre. I used to run the Rocky Horror Picture Show out there until about 4 years ago.
If you were a regular at RHPS during that time, YES, I'm THAT "Chris Jones"

Actually I never had the guts to go--but I bet a lot of my friends know you. Email me (f3k64@yahoo.com) when you get back--we should all do some Raleigh shindigs. I'm down there all the time and it's a good opportunity to rope my old high school buddies into the Firefly fandom.
