I am in the camp of thinking Sylar may have just been healing himself to wait to make a move to get out. Bennet said he had lost a lot of blood and maybe that is why Eden’s powers worked in the first place. He was weakened. They could not have relied on Mr. Bennet’s supposed dampening powers or the Haitian’s because they would have to be at the facility 24/7. …AND both were at the police station (among other places, basically Bennet would have not instructed the Haitian to leave and “wipe out” his family if he need to control Sylar.)
Still not clear on Peter's visions. He did, in fact, see through the eyes of his brother during the car accident (or was he just a floating bystander?). But he was himself when he flew out of the window before Simone's father died. I agree with BC1 that this is part of his power. He has another vision as himself when his brother mysteriously becomes Sylar. …and, of course, the last vision. But he tells Nathan in his vision in jail that all of the "heroes" are the same. (may be reading too much into this) But Niki’s tattoo, The Hatian’s necklace, and the same symbol appears in Suresh’s gene program. Is this the connection Peter will discover to unravel this mystery. My guess is that symbol represents what Peter is tapping into. He is inherently connected to the all players minds. So in turn he gets not only their powers but visions about them. Ok I’m stretchin’ it here.
We know he doesn’t have to meet the people to have visions about them because Nikki, Micah, and DL were in his final vision. Kinda sad Eden took the hit, but being you never saw her picture in most of the promo media, I figured she was toast. (any I've seen anyway)
...and Steg you beat me to the point about Nathan flying away while Mr. Bennet is there. I am not convinced he has Dampening powers.

In regards to Peter's condition after his encounter with Sylar. He does cough a bit just as Claire comes up to him the first time. He does not cough at all when he is being questioned by Matt and Audrey. He begins coughing again when Claire visits him in the holding cell. It can be conjectured that she wasn't around long enough the first time for him to have healed completely, but you would think he would improve when he was near her again.
However, I spotted something yesterday when I was rewatching all the episodes again. The time when Claire met the people claiming to be her biological parents, afterwards her mother was telling her about how worried they had been when Claire was a baby, thinking that she had some major problems. When Claire asked what kind of problems, her mother said that she had a cough. That seems such an insignificant thing for her to have mentioned unless it was meant as a subtle clue to be revealed later.
Perhaps Claire has a disease which does not affect her directly anymore, but one which could affect Peter when he came into contact with her. Recall that Chandra Suresh had said that the mutations are somewhat like cancers.

Yep, noticed it first thing. And for the person that didn't think MBG's accent was haitian, the actor himself is haitian, so I don't see why the accent wouldn't be.

Mr. Bennett told Sylar that he had altered his own DNA so much that it was making him psychotic. Perhaps it's an overload for Peter too.
Might be what's jamming his "visions". Could also be that he's taken on too many from Sylar, Claire and Matt in a short time.
I was more intrigued by the demeanor of all the other Heroes as they watched Peter start to "light up" in his vision. But Nathan kept walking straight towards him. Anybody's thoughts on that?
Interesting thoughts. Could be you are right. I do not think it a coincidence that he did not start becoming ill until his physical contact w/ Sylar.

My thoughts on the heroes reactions to Peter's going critical is that they didn't recognize him, which leads me to believe my earlier thought that Peter is seeing things from someone else's perspective is likely correct.
I agree w/ Singate that I think the determined look on Nathan's face is that he is going to grab the "exploding man" and fly them away from the city before he goes critical. I don't think it is because the man going critical is Peter, but because Nathan feels some sort of need for redemption because of his action and their consequences so far this season.
