At the keep of the Octagonal Order on Zanzibar:

As Sir Luc leaps from the highest tower, Sir Devan turns and tosses a handful of small spheres that bounce among the feet of the three Immortals. "Infuse Ward!" he begins. The spheres begin to glow.

"Enough of that!" With a gesture, Ouroboros turns Sir Devan to solid stone. Then he looks at Magnus and Krysta. "Perhaps it is time to end this siege!" Ouroboros drops his pet snake, kneels, and places each palm flat against the stone of the tower.

He utters a lengthy incatation and soon the castle starts shaking itself apart.

"I must go move my soul," Magnus mutters. He kisses one of his many ornate rings and disappears.

Meanwhile a tremendous wind kicks up. A figure in blue flies down at great speed to grab and carry away the petrified Sir Devan. "I have you now!" gloats Zorander the Storm Caller. "Time for a little vengeance!"

Krysta the Ice Queen takes advantage of Ouroboros' state, weakened after expending so much magical power against the keep. She freezes him solid. "THAT is for abandoning me to the Knights earlier!" she whispers.

What a bottomless pit my brother is!

Hey Mai? Are the faeries still around? I bet they could help us with something nice to put on top of the tree.

OOC-The Deceit!!! the BETRAYAL I love it!!

Wisp saw the steel figure behind him and marvelled at the magical benefits availabe. He didnt ponder for long as he was still in the midst of battle.

He had destroyed a visible flank of the enemy lines and the corpses strewn around made rivers of blood that stained the green plates of his armour. He stood for a moment in the massacre where no creatures dared approach him, a storm of arrows fell at him but bounced off like raindrops on stones. Boulders and rockets were fired at him but he destroyed them before they got near.

A rogue troll began charging toward him obviously put into a rage and let loose. The beast stood 30ft high and had fists the size of a man, with a snarling blunted head covered in a crude steel helmet. Wisp didnt show any fear at this, he simply aimed the cannon off his back and fired a blast into his chest and another into his head.

It roared in pain as its head and chest began rotting away and falling to dust. A ripple of ageing spreading through its body till its helmet fell to the ground in a pile of dust.

The enemy were now terrified of this single lone figure and as he walked towards them the flanks began to turn and run. He looked behind again and saw The Metal Jazaf deep in combat and bounded over to assist.

OOC: Maybe you guys have found my achillies heel here. Hack and slash, I can do, the same with witty banter and the sweet nothings, but the location of a soul jar appears to be the ultimate writers block because the way I see it, if I had a soul jar I would want it a hundred miles from any battle field.
Ah ha! I have a solution, but I bet you won't like it.
Oh by the way, be glad SR isn't hanging out in the Tree right now, between him and Ath there wouldn't be a single piece of popcorn to put on to that tree.

Seryn: The remark about dying with the taste of custard wasn't meant as funny. I was trying for poinancy. SR really expects to die on that wall.

Back to the fray.

IC: The seige of Octagonal keep, Zanzibar.

"Damn thing's defective!" SR curses and then realises that it isn't the amulet it's him. He makes his way across the wall with much havoc and slaughter to Sir Morgana. He takes her aside from the fray into a relatively sheltered area. He lowers himself to one knee. From his neck he takes the amulet and places it in her hand.
"This amulet was given to me by sir Jazaf. Some unknown factor prevents my using it, I know not what, I fear perhaps some defect of character, one of many, or their whole sum or the defict of the character in total." The Baroness rolls her eyes. SR taking her meaning moves on. "Never the less this the means to slay the immortals, by revealing where their souls are kept. In a different time and place I would ransom it in exchange for a barony of my own, today it is a gift. I only ask that if I should fall tell my heart's love, the lady Seryn, my last thoughts were of her. Perhaps there is hope for me yet, I normally would ask for a kiss."

"Rise Mister Regent." she commands. He complies and she pushes him against the wall and fastens seething and blistering liplock on him all too soon she breaks it off.
"That is for thinking of me as a woman, it has been a long time since anyone has." Then she strikes him across the face hard enough for his eyes to lose focus. "That is for the impertenence of doing so. Now go and fight and live to see your woman again and your child born."

OOC: All right now somebody who feels they know Karg better than I do tell me what SR saw.

OOC: I think that Karg would hide his soul in a sword, helmet, or piece of armor somewhere. Zorander the Storm Caller would hide his in the wind on some mountaintop. Adelle the Burner in the heart of a volcano. That sort of thing.

But none would be particularly easy to get to. Otherwise the benefits of being Immortal would be too easy to cancel. Karg's sword, for example, would never be something he would take into battle. It might be a well-guarded ceremonial blade on the altar of a temple to some war god. Or a simple-seeming blade buried with some knight. And there is no reason that the keepers of the blade would know of its importance.

Or, the soul jar might have a fierce guardian, or be hidden in some other dimension or on another world.

So, was Jazaf a Knight of the Octagonal Order who was made Immortal, or an Immortal who became a Knight? Or were all the Immortals once Knights of the Order? If he was an Immortal, then what was his color? Jazaf the Grey?

OOC: Jazaf was an Immortal who became a Knight and yes, his color was grey.

OOC: Sorry, SR, I thought it was funny, too.

In a poignant way.

I was having a think about that - If we smear peanut butter in strategic places, fairies'll be back before you can say Rip Van Winkle.

Of course, we may have to Ath-proof it somehow...

Isn't sanity really a one trick pony, anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking! But when you're good and crazy...ooh hoo hoo hoo... the skys the limit!

Peanut butter attracts faeries?

I never knew!

Don't worry about Ath, I'll distract him.

Well, usually its jam - they can always be lured away from the bottom of the garden and in to the path of a waiting camera by jam sandwiches - its like the achillies heel or something.

But its very hard to get a good english preserve in space. So i thought - peanut butter! It makes dogs make noises like they're trying to cough up their own lungs, but thousands of kids the world over love it to bits - so why not fairies? We can try anyway.

*scoots to get jars, while Ath is leaping for another chewy sweet tart*

00c - as for the remark about custard - I'm sorry - i didn't realise you were taking the fight that seriously - you really think SR's done for? I'm kinda sad now. Oh dear, is this going to get dramatic? But custard is still funny.

I meen just say it 'cust...ard' hard clipped 'd' custard. Funny.

Ah, well, I was thinking of Seryn taking the Nandi out for a covert spin, once they have the fairies up - would you like him to die an epic heroic death before or after she picks him up?

Oh come one honey, he has lipstick all over his collar - think she's going to let him get away with that?

OOC: to the best of my knowledge SR is not going to die, but he doesn't know that and it looks grim, but face it he's a BDH. BDH's don't die in fantasy worlds. This is the tree being dead never stoped anyone from particpating. Ace making a hell of a showing and she's been dead for how many threads? So let's just see what happens. If he lives through this he will so want to have intense survivor sex with Seryn, of course he will have to wait till she recovers from child birth and feels the interest and by that time his interest may have waned a little. (SIGH)
