MSG - Dante Alligheri wrote some of the most beautiful poetry ever written for a woman, inspired by a woman named Beatrice whom he never met in person. It could certainly be argued whether or not this obsession of his was love or something else, but that's part of the mental state of romance. To him, he was madly in love, with no concern for the reason or logic behind never having met the object of his affection. I sympathize with him on that level. Maybe it's not what you or a host of other people would call love; in fact, maybe Alligeri and I have the emotional mind of an 8 year old. I probably wouldn't deny that.
Tristan - I did get the PM, thank you. I'll be responding to it soon, but I want to say publicly that I truly appreciate your words and sentiments.
Regarding your period of celibacy, it surprises me how many people have gone through this themselves, found very positive results, but still decided to put it aside when they were done with it. It seems to me that a man's whole life should be as focused and driven as it is when he first makes those vows. But even I've slacked in the past year, and probably in much worse ways. I can say that I've most likely stolen well over $1000 worth of property from various sources, so maybe I shouldn't be preaching this "Higher Order" stuff. All I can do to make amends is to man up and move forward.
Almost everyone here that I talk to as equals are older than me and have more life experience. I've tried so hard to take what I've learned from only the most extreme situations, war and fighting, and apply it to human interaction. That's probably why I fail at it so much. Maybe someday in the future, if I ever move beyond the taste for lead and steel, I'll see an importance in sex and intimacy, and finally understand what you've all been talking about. But until then, I remain in thorough disagreement with you all.
NVG - Wanting to be wanted is a common psychological desire, and probably even a need by most people's standards. But that's a thin, dangerous line, if it even actually exists. You should never let people's desire for you define and justify your existence. Even most "date experts" would encourage you to be comfortable with and "love" yourself before you try to find someone else to connect with. If you're tired of being the fall guy, then don't be him anymore.
Although I'm horrified to be quoting from Star Trek, I think there's value in the quote "Don't try to be a great man, just be a man". That would probably be applicable here. If you stop stressing about finding a woman and concentrate on just being a man, then eventually they'll come to you. Be confident, be strong, on your own, and then when they come, you can decide for yourself if you even need or want them.
Or you could always re-enlist. Uncle Sam always knows how to make you feel wanted.

FMF- I may love him but I wouldn't inflict him on anyone else. He's a great friend( best friend ever) and near about the worst boyfriend known to woman kind. ( he's a major man whore)However if you're looking for am amazing time in the sack( from what all the girls say, no personal experience on this one) with absolutely no chance of committment...then he is definitely your man.
NV- Aw baby HUGS and loves and smother love and such. You need someone who appreciates how smart, kind, funny, responsible( yes responsible is a GREAT thing)sweet, terrific and incredible you truly are. Obviously the women of Fallon are simply to worthless, and dumb to not appreciate an amazing and wonderful man like you and they should be run out of town and replaced with real women who would appreciate you.

Thanks a bunch FMF. I'm thinkin' a little truth will go a long way in this case. Just hate the track record that seems to follow close.
As for the women in this town, I'm related to at least 25 percent of them. I fit into no defined category of guy. And I don't play games. That pretty much rules me out of a ton of opportunitys.

CMH- see I'd call that infatuation. If you don't know a person. Who they are, what kind of person they are, how they treat themselves and others, how interesting they are, then how can you know if you love them or are just infatuated with how they look. It's kind of like a mail order bride. You like the look of them, but don't really know them or see them as anything other than a great work of art. I'm not saying art can't inspire feelings, but not deep ones:) ( that's just my opinion though)

I think alot of it is coming to terms with the feelings that flood back here and there. To go so long without feeling much of anything really plays with the mind, body, and spirit. Doing rather than talking is my life. Preventing and protecting is my life. Nurturing and building. All these things are part of my life. Aren't these the things a man should do? I just figure love is the one thing that hasn't really panned out. So I keep trying the best way I can. I don't know why. I just do it.
