I love drinking it straight, there is no need to mask the fine taste of the alcohol, especially the maple charcoal wonderfulness of the Jack. I do understand, however, that a lot of folks are not like that. You can drink yours as I drink mine, and we might end up even, as I have a much higher body mass and a pretty decent tolerance.

I can smoke all night long 
, but 2 or 3 drinks & I'm totaled ! Never had any tolerance for booze no matter how much I like it.
I prefer the pipe over anything else.
I'm off to dreamland -I feel rather lousy.
I'll be back on when the sun is up again !
No rest for the weary.

I am with you, I prefer the pipe to the bottle, and can go all night long, though there are, *ahem*, other things I prefer to that.
