I loved the episode, great backstory, although no major surprises. I suspected as much, glad it wasn't something out of character. Poor Lee!! He deserves better. Hope those too will now have some more interaction, even if it's awkward, I missed that this season.

Yeah, I'm kinda pissed at Lee and Kara too. I feel bad for Dee, 'cause, while Kara might pull herself out and do the right thing (stay with the person you married, 'cause this is the "for worse" part of it, and you don't just rent a marriage), Lee can be kinda an asshole.

Not to be contrary, but I thought this episode really sucked. Basically, it was all what I would call "seconday story-line footage". The kinda stuff you show in flashacks, while having a main story carry the show. But this was, what? Nothing but boxing. And building up to Adama eventually making some vague, incoherent speech about having given his crew too much breaks or some such. Didn't do it for me.
Yes, I missed the tension arc between the Cylons coming and them evading. BSG is generally gripping. And the characters, under pressure, are real and interesting. But without a main story line... Which brings me full circle: tension between characters IS secondary; not in importance, per se, but secondary in the sense of being the resultant of a primary development line. If you skip the main story, and just go straight to putting people in a ring, opposed to each other, where is the subtlety in that?
Next time better, I hope.

would love to see the back story as to WHY Starbuck ran
and where does a fight night like this fit in when soldiers, pilots etc not to mention medical supplies must be in such SHORT supply

Not as strong as other episodes. I sort of felt little cheated after it was over. The only part that I found remotely moving or directly relevant to the story was Adama’s speech. This should have been the whole point of the show, yet it took second place beyond Kara and Lee’s soap. It was filler material. This would have been good material to pad a larger story, not to make as the climax and resolution of a whole episode. I don’t really care enough about the characters (Lee and Kara) anymore to make there dysfunctional sex life a major point. I suppose the point of this episode was to finally put this New Caprica stuff behind us, because if its not, then it doesn’t really have a point.

Anymore being the operative word. I can't help but think that BSG is being undone by becoming too complex for a weekly. I can't keep track of all the developments, especially when they relate to events taking place more than half a year ago (in viewing time). When certain storylines are left unattended for an extended period (the Starbuck/Apollo relationship hasn't been explored since season two) I either lose interest or assume that it has been resolved.
Moore seems to be rather inept in terms of building, maintaining and resolving tension in a way that I find satisfying. Now possibly if I was watching season three on DVD over several weeks I would feel differently. I've felt generally unsatisfied with season three, enough so that I feel I was justified in fearing that the colonel settlment and cylon occupation of New Caprica at the end of season two heralded the demise of the show.

Great episode. After so many weeks of occupation and post-occupation "dealing with the big issues" stuff, it was nice to get some straightforward character development.
The scene where Adama tells Lee about Kara's marriage was a standout for me. I thouhgt Bamber did an excellent job of conveying the struggle Lee was having to hide his emotions from his father.
