I remember reading somewhere the Lassitur gun in trash was originally supposed to be THE WHITE ALBUM--some legal thing prevented it

If memory serves well, the Lassiter was called "The Mexican" in earlier shooting scripts. Oddly enough, fireflywiki.org suggest for possible origin of the name a gold-digger called Harold Bell Lasseter. My friend Rhyianan is right, however; she told me the Lassiter was so named in homage to Pixar's John Lassiter, for whom Joss has done much work.

It slipped thru into performance -- one of the characters calls it that, during the dining room table scene.
I thought that was a "whoops!", thought Joss ripped off the story idea from the movie of the same name.
Shame on me. I'm bad...
