Heh. There's plenty of Bond spoofs but Operation Kid Brother is more of a Bond movie without Bond - no more of a spoof than the real films are. You're meant to take it seriously, though thankfully Joel and the Bots don't.
And the mocking of it is funny, the film itself... no. Nor is it exciting. Nor action packed. Unless you've a particular fetish for seeing the original Moneypenny with a machine-gun or wondered what Sean Connery's younger, less talented brother was like as an actor, it's not worth your time without the MST3K stuff.

Wow, I just about DIED laughing when I read the article on "Iron Chef". The captions on the articles' pictures were hilarious as well.
Banish the thought of doing MST on Firefly! I'll never let it happen.
On anything else, fair game :)
Thanks for the funnies!
Amy

That sounds awesome. Is it seriously Sean Connery's brother??
Geez, I have so many MST3K eps to find and watch now, I don't know where to start. :)

Yeah, Mike looks to be a pretty talented comedy writer. I just ordered a couple of his movie books for really cheap on Amazon so I'm hoping they're as funny.

I know, a MSTing of Firefly would probably be pretty hard to handle. -Unless they found a way to do it while still showing that they love the show, deep in their souls. :)
Those recaps on televisionwithoutpity.com actually really make me mad. I try to read them, but it really seems like the writer doesn't "get" the show at all. The things he criticizes aren't even funny. Now Alias, for example, has an incredible recapper at TWOp, in that she makes fun of it to death, but you can still see she cares about the characters. If they could do that with Firefly, it might be hysterical...maybe... :)
Oh, and you are welcome- for the link. :)

I'll now thank you again--my mom both called and emailed me to thank me for practically putting her in the hospital she laughed so hard at that link (which I forwarded to her). Naturally I turned her into a Browncoat years ago...
Thanks again!
For people who obviously still love the show but are happy to laugh at it anyway, I recall someone doing a photo montage of muppets as Firefly that was amazing, someone else doing "Firefly in 1000 words" or something to that effect, and there was one other... hm... let me see if I can dig it up...
ok, here's the muppet one, and I'm out of time on the computer so good luck finding the other funny Firefly parodies...

I'm glad to spread the fun!
Yeah, I've seen the Muppet show. It's great, but thanks for the link anyway. I handn't seen it in a while.
And, hey, nice move in converting the Mom to Firefly. Mine still isn't sure about the whole space-hooker deal. She always seems to join the FF viewing party at the exact wrong time- like when Inara and that ambassador are making out in that ridiculous, unnecesary side-story. lol. :)

That's great. Just reading the recap cracks me up. Isn't that from Cave Dwellers?
I'd have to say my favorite ep is "Pod People." There are just so many classic moments- from Trumpie perusing the wing-ed potatoes, to the idiot pop band getting lost in the woods to the Renaissance festival deer hunters. It's like 3 horrible movies in one.
"Can't take the sky..."
HUZZAH!!
Penny in a poor boy. Idiot Control, beans on pie, burning rubber tires!
I could go on, but I won't. Seriously, I LOVE Pod people, it's one of my faves. And a couple years back, I got a wonderful box set which was four eps. And it had my two fave eps of all time, Boggy Creek II and the Touch of Satan. Classic stuff. So, yeah, no you'd think that a Msting of Serenity would be hard to take, but I urge you to read the fan msting of it that I've posted earlier. It's fun, it's funny and it's downright spot on. It doesn't really make fun of any of our BDM's in a way that irreversable and it ends on a note that I think any Browncoat can enjoy. And did I mention it's hilarious. Especially if you've watched the movie enough times to practically play it back in your head and fast forward to the parts that it deals with. Seriously, I know that you don't want anybody making fun of the 'verse, but you can tell this was done by a fan, and I doubt that any actual msting (not that there will ever be one) will be good natured. I want to hope that in like ten years, some other group of young go getters will take the mantle that Joel, Mike, Crow, Tom, Dr. Forrester, TV's Frank, et. al. left behind, and start Msting the shows that are current today, but cheesy. They could make a fortune off of Scifi Original pictures alone! Check out this site for cheap, unlisenced MST3K eps, from the Joel era, and the Mike era, and even the KTMA era. All of which, I would recommend as awesome viewing.

Also, adding my two cents on the Mike/Joel argument. I love both.

Yay! Finally, someone else acknowledging Pod People!! It looks as though we have the same taste as I have also listed here and in the other MST3K thread my love for Boggy Creek II: And the Legend Continues and A Touch of Satan. I actually had my brother and his friend over this weekend and we watched both episodes! Oh, the short shorts from writer, director, producer, and star, Mr. Charles B. Pierce!! And Tim, keep your flippin' shirt on, for the love!
And, yes, I have started reading the Serenity MSTing and I don't know why I keep putting off continuing it; the beginning was cracking me up. I guess I must overcome the idea that Joel/Mike and the bots didn't actually perform it.
In the above, we were, or at least, I was referring to a MSTing of the series, which I hold much dearer to my heart than the movie. I guess I'm just a little weary because, again, the TWOp treatment was very frustrating.
"All I wanna feel now is the wind in my eyes. Pack of monkeys in my pocket, my sister's ready to go. Idiot patrol now, ninny in the road now."
Oh, and then there's:
"Steady as she goes, we're flyin' over trout."
Oh, I love that Joel!- especially when he sings that song. I love his little, patheticness. It's just perfect.
And, yeah, Mike is great too- with the spoofing- I probably laugh as hard with either, but I just adore Joel's dopey character.
Oh, goodness, you are right that they need to bring that show back. There is so much fodder for them. I'm thinking they could kill with a couple of episodes of Lost. I would certainly pay to see it. :)
Thanks for the link, Terri!!

Haha, I guess what you need to do is make your Mom a deal she can't refuse: offer to wash her car (or windows or whatever...) in exchange for her sitting down and watching Firefly from the beginning. :-) Good luck!
And I found the Serenity in 2000 words:

Also, thanks for the Serenity MST3 link, it really was quite funny and I was very impressed that the author was so well able to immitate what Mike and the droids actually sounds like. Immitating some one else's humor has to be harder than just being funny...
Cheers, Amy

As I recall, the TWoP treatment of the BDM was actually rather sensitive. I teared up at one point. I only read a couple of the episodes and agreed, not all that funny.
