Maybe it's me, but I figure penguins are okay on Batman and that March of the Penguins movie, but on a "Who's the last one to post on this thread" thread? Nah. They just don't cut it, darlings.
For this, we need...yeah. We need something that's good in ANY climate, not just chilly flightless Arctic bird-types. We need...crows. They're cool, they're jet black, they're smart, they're frickin' EVERYWHERE, and they are called a murder, in groups.
Last, but not least, they'd kick a penguin's butt with one wing tied behind their back.
