edit Hey Traveler. I hope he's joking, too. 'Cause I just don't get it otherwise.

I don't know Bob, or what he's hoping for, but Mark's hoping for a second season of Firefly.

Hello 6ixstringJack:
You just took me by surprize. Never thought any would not know Bob Hope. Just google him if you would learn about him. One of the nicest guys around.
Besides being a great comedian he visited our soldiers in every war from World War II through Desert Storm. He tried to reach ever soldier he could to put on a show for them to give them a taste of home and let them know the people back home had not forgotten them. This was a major effort during WWII because we were spread out all over the map. So he clocked a lot of miles with several other people who volunteered there time to entertain our troops.
That is probably the main thing he is famous for. But he also made several movies that are well known.
You may find some you like. They all mainly comedies. His most famous are films with Bing Crosby about a couple of hucksters trying to make it big from Bali to Utopia.

Thank you for your response. I was just kidding. I know who Bob hope is, although I'm probably the last generation who will know of him aside from theatre buffs and people who regularly watch Buster Keaton make potatos dance with forks.
I really don't know much about him myself, but I was vaguly aware of his war efforts, as I always associated him with the USO comedy shows. Sounds like a great guy. My grandparents always talked about him...
I'm starting to watch some older flicks and I find some of them quite enjoyable. I really liked "12 Angry Men" and "From Here to Eternity" and I really get a kick out of knowing that the way that media manipulates people's thoughts and emotions is not something that is exclusive to my generation and has probably been going on since the invention of the written word.
Got any good Bobby Hope flicks for me to take a gander at?

Yeah, I was mis-quoting 'The Princess Bride," why?
Good Bob Hope Flicks?
All of the 'Road" pics: Road to Rio, Road to Morocco, Road to Zanzabar, Road to Singapore, Road to Hong Kong & Road to Utopia. He also did a few good pics with Lucille Ball: Fancy Pants & Sorrowful Jones. Also The Paleface and Son of Paleface are hy-larious.
Go check out the IMDB link I posted above. :)

One I watch often is "The Lemon Drop Kid". A twobit con man who gets in over his head with a gangster. Bob uses every schtick in the book in this movie. But there are so many. "My Favorite Brunette" with Dorthy Lamour. Okay you don't know who Dorothy Lamour is.
Google her.
