It was okay, sometimes good, but never really great.
5 was great, musically- it had some fantastic moments, like especially The Gift, and 7's final ep was astounding, but 6 never made me gulp air with excitement.
Just a thought...

Um... "Once More, With Feeling".

Okay, I meant the score, the 'day-to-day' music...OMWF was a special ep, an amazing ep, an ep that shames those amateur pikers like Andrew Lloyd Webber, and that hack Gershwin....
Somewhat over-the-top Chrisisall

Its the composer, it\'s all to do with the composer
The first season had... I can\'t remember now, the music wasn\'t that great
But seasons 2 - 4 had the best music - Buffy and Angel\'s love theme, the fight music between Faith and Buffy, the score to Restless, etc.
That was all Christophe Beck
Season 5 was \"meh\" until The Gift, which Christophe Beck returned to compose (also OMWF)
I believe Thomas Wanker did 5 and 6, but none of the themes really stood out
But there is music to download from season 7 (I\'ll find the site and let you know) by Robert Duncan. His music was great, and was the closest you got to Beck\'s greatness. The music from the final episode was fantastic, and had a real epic quality to it - really made the episode even better.

The music I never really payed that much attention to. And even the "Once More, With Feeling" ep didn't really register with me personally. Like I said, I'm more of a Cameron Crowe kind of guy than a Stephen Sondheim person.
That being said, one of the things that I did notice in season 6 and 7 was that they were having more source music/indie-pop-rock songs on their soundtrack. Musically, it started to sound more like a WB show, which is ironic since this started to happen when the show was on UPN.
Like one glaring instance of it was in the 7th season ep when all the women were being drawn to that R.J. kid and when Dawn was looking through some boxes for Buffy's old cheerleader outfit, The Shins' "New Slang" was playing over the soundtrack. That actually took me out of the ep for a moment.
BTW, GARDEN STATE used that song much better.

"There's only one "Return" ok, and it ain't "of the King", it's "of the Jedi."
"Maybe we should start calling your friend 'Padme' because he loves 'Mannequin Skywalker' so much, Right? (imitating robot) Danger...danger...my name is Anakin...my shitty acting is ruining saga."
Excerpt of internet teaser for CLERKS 2.

Did Duncan do the last ep only, or more than that?
The theme that's on the S7 menues still haunts me!

Robert Duncan did a lot of s7 (not all of it, I don't think). I have 3 of his episode soundtracks, from Sleeper, The Killer in Me, and Chosen. They're all gorgeous.

Yeah, he did more than just the last episode (as Amyel has said), but I\'m not sure if it was the whole season, or just some
You can download come music cues from here: http://www.duncanmusic.com/buffy.html
Also, Douglas Romayne Stevens has worked on the scores to numerous series, including Buffy and Angel
You can find some music cues to download of his at http://www.bleujean.com/drsmusic.html (but it doesn\'t tell you exactly which tv series, let alone which episode, each cue is from. Still, there\'s some good stuff there)

I found this in wikipedia:
Duncan is credited as composer for Buffy episodes 7.02 and 7.04-7.22. Memorable tracks have included:
* "Every Girl A Slayer", which plays whilst Buffy gives proposes her idea to overcome the First, and "Slayer Victory", the track which plays during the fight at the Hellmouth ("Chosen").
So he actually did most of the season, cool!

Watching S7 currently, and Duncan's work is great, mature and subtle, yet affecting and melodic...really excellent stuff.
So many layers on the Buffycake Chrisisall
