Gorram is English. A deliberate mispronunciation of "God Damn." For years ... generations even, people have deliberately distorted the pronunciation of profanities -- and obscenities -- in order to: (A) get away with it, (B) to minimize other peoples perceptions of their rudness, lack of gentility, or manners, or (C) express exasperation with out offending anyone. Consider: "AW, SHOOT!" The "OO" is a substitution for "I." Do you get my meaning here?

"By Gum, By Gar, B'Gorra, were (are?) substitutions for By God. And what about, "Jeez?"

And what do you think "Freaking," "Frigging," and "Effing," are substitutions for?

I first heard "Gorram" In Yorkshire, England many years ago.

Ciara. Can't AIM or email from work, so...

Thorne has never met Inara, but he is familiar with Companions, having lived on the Core worlds when an Alliance officer. I am sure he would like to spend some time with a person of culture and refinement, and will say so. Besides, it'll give him a chance to get Mal's goat, since he'll quickly see how things stand between Mal and 'Nara.

Really hope either Humble can get back and be Mal or we can find a new recruit, since it's more fun for me (Thorne) to interact when I don't always know the other player's mind, and he(she) doesn't know mine.

Isn't that everyone feels about Firefly leaving? We want more info, story...but you can try, don't got nothin' that says you can't.
