Mr. Libby and his boss, Mr. Cheney, were trying to discredit Mr. Wilson; if Mr. Fitzgerald's account is correct, they were careless about handling information that was classified.
The point is that Wilson lied. He lied that it was Cheney who had suggested that he ( Joe Wilson ) be tapped to head over to Niger in the 1st place. Cheney did no such thing. Joe was a former ambassador, not a specialist in WMD, so it made little sense that he be picked for this task. Damn right Cheney is going to debunk Wilson's report, since Wilson himself changed his own report in the 1st place.
If anyone is worried about carelessly handling classified info, then mabye we could re-open the Sandy Burger case, and find out why he REALLY was taking classified documents stuffed in his pants.
Per Cheney and Rove, this entire affair was nothing but a politically driven witch hunt.

Well then, thank god I never said it was Bush. Bush is too isolated and clueless.
So, no apologies offered.
PS SignyM posted a long time ago that an anon. CIA source said it was leaked from the Old Exec. Bldg. And that after much searching, he was able to find it houses the Office of the VP and Sec. State. That convinced me at the time that either, or both, were the sources of the leak. And it was both.
I said Bush administration, not just Bush. So apologize at your leisure.

And BTW- Joe Wilson was correct. The Bush administration lied about the yellowcake story, just like they lied about everything else related to Iraq. And they're STILL lying! But for some reason that- try as I might I can't fathom- you have a desperate need to believe that the Administration is some giant daddy figure that will protect you from harm.
My god, you're wrong and you're wrong again. Despite the news and everything that you've just read per this case, you still stubbornly say Bush lied? That makes you a moron. Wilson lied, and it's clear to see. Nothing Bush said per the Yellow cake is a lie. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
Is that what being a Liberal means? Acting like a 3 yr old when confronted w/ the facts?

WE'RE RELUCTANT to return to the subject of former CIA employee Valerie Plame because of our oft-stated belief that far too much attention and debate in Washington has been devoted to her story

Auraptor,
Please point out the lie...what you posted showed no lie by Wilson, and if it did, point what specifically proves its a lie, cuz I'm not following you.
edit -- I didn't see your other post -- so you're saying he lied about being picked by Cheney...where is that in your original post?
Prior to Bush's speech about the yellow cake it had already been discredited by C.I.A officials who thought they had corrected the problem when they asked for it to be removed from Bush's speech on the case for war with Iraq. In spite of that, it ended up back in the speech. And that's not lying to the American public?

No, it's not lying to the American public. What Bush SAID was that British Intel was of the opinion that Iraq was looking to buy yellowcake from Niger. British Intel STILL stands by that report. Regardless of what the CIA thinks, Bush didn't lie.
As for the rest, I don't have time to reconstrutct the entire matter all over again. All I'm gonna say is that Wilson lied when he said it was Cheney who suggested he be sent to Niger. Cheney did no such thing.

This whole mess was a scam w/ the intent to discredit and attack the Bush administration. Wilson and Plame, Democrats both, played a willing part in this scandal.
Your question is moot.

Are you saying our president trusted the british intel over american intel - the intel that was WRONG? and that inspite all the controversy surrounding the intel, told us all that this was the undisputable truth? You are admitting that the administration was told conflicting information, and still pretended there was no doubt?
..................
As to the rest of your post, of course that's all you have to say.

What Auraptor is saying is that Plame and Wilson somehow engineered the trip to Niger to make the Admnistration look bad.
Auraptor, you got proof for that?
Of course not.
And I see I have a groupie of my very own! (MalBadLatin) I feel so... so very... validated! sigh.

Gee, shall I take the word of this guy over here, who has no apparent motive for dishonesty prior to an attack on his wife....
Or shall I take the word of a pack of dishonest, vote-rigging, lying, cheating, no-bid-contract, fake intel, faux news, fearmongering usurpers who've already been proven to have no respect for the public or the law.
Oh golly gee whiz, that's a hard choice, lemme think about it
